So many "no shit" policies that we should have already been doing for decades, stymied as per usual by monied interests. Disgusting.

[–] GhostPain@lemmy.world 2 points 37 minutes ago

Both parties only do what their masters tell them to do. It isn't their fault, man. They are helpless. It's the systems fault. /s (just so no one gets confused)

...it is not good enough just to be critical of Trump and his destructive policies.

(Thought that was a good addition from the article, left out of the subtitle.)

Here are just a few of the issues that must be addressed:

  1. We must create a vibrant democracy by ending Citizens United and preventing billionaires from buying elections.

  2. Whether the Democratic establishment likes it or not, we must guarantee healthcare as a human right through Medicare for All.

  3. We must build millions of affordable homes and apartments and give our younger generation the opportunity to own a home of their own.

  4. We must make public colleges, universities, trade schools and medical schools tuition-free and have the best childcare and public school system in the entire world.

  5. We must expand social security and bring back traditional pension plans so that every senior in this country can retire with dignity.

  6. We must raise the minimum wage to a living wage and guarantee every worker the right to join a union.

  7. We must demand that the wealthiest people and most profitable corporations in America pay their fair share in taxes.

Why do I keep seeing people on here call Bernie a liberal zionist?

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 11 points 1 hour ago

I think he supports 2 state solution, right? So some people consider that a form of Zionism. Which seems a bit questionable because I believe that has also been Hamas's position for the last few years, although they don't call it that.

Maybe there's more to it. To be honest I'm not overly worried about the exact positions of one of the more outspoken critics of Israel in congress. I'd much rather focus my ire on its defenders, which are many.

This is Lemmy. There are extreme left here. So left that they kind of horseshoe back towards the right again.

Also, I've definitely seen your username here for a while. I'm sure you know this by now.

[–] GhostPain@lemmy.world 2 points 40 minutes ago (1 children)

Horseshoe theory is a psyop. It's not a thing.

[–] BenderRodriguez@lemmy.world 1 points 12 minutes ago

Why did you just say that?

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 1 points 55 minutes ago (1 children)

That's a Ken M type account. Go with it.

[–] BenderRodriguez@lemmy.world 4 points 53 minutes ago (1 children)

I used to play golf with Ken M.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 2 points 52 minutes ago (1 children)

Did he bring tree branches instead of clubs?

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml 2 points 49 minutes ago

Because he is

Oh honey if you think Americans invented liberal Zionism have I got news for you.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 3 points 44 minutes ago (1 children)

Well, we are certainly gaining enough downhill momentum to get us back up somewhere.

[–] GhostPain@lemmy.world 1 points 37 minutes ago

Feeling the need to explain how free fall works right now.

[–] GhostPain@lemmy.world 1 points 34 minutes ago

Cool so Dems are going to stop suing viable 3rd parties off the ballots, eliminate the billionaire class and disband?

Because that's about the only way THAT is going to happen.

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml -4 points 47 minutes ago (1 children)

'If you only vote harder for my good friends the status quo oligarchs that helped get us into this mess we can reverse Americas decline'

Bernie is doing what Bernie has always done, sheepdog for fascism.

[–] GhostPain@lemmy.world -2 points 38 minutes ago

Correct. Though I would more correctly say "Dems do what Dems have always done in the 21st century, guard dog for Fascism".
