Wooooowwwww. It’s being used for exactly what I said it would be~

I know a lot if us are not even surprised in the least, but i hope some of the head-in-the-sand naysayer motherfuckers wake up and learn something.

When they say the images wont leave your computer. Its because they converted it to facial geometry. They dont want the images because they take too much storage.

When they say they will delete it after processing, processing includes sending a copy to whoever else theyve agreed to share it with. Palantir, im sure here, maybe through an intermediary data broker.

I deleted my discord account immediately when the news of this face-check-age-check broke

Anybody here who have a good recommendation for something as simple as Discord with audio lobbies? I see all these recommendations for alternative platforms and software which mostly focus on the community/forum aspect of Discord, and not the things Discord was meant to be used for: talking with your buddies while gaming.

I used Mumble before Discord was a thing, but the self-hosting a server thing got a bit old, and required me to keep my PC on at all times in case my buddies wanted to play games and chat when I wasn't available.

Why is he obsessed with Antichrist? He is gay. Does he think the extreme Christians will think he is one of them?

[–] vala@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago

He's a charlatan.

Thank you, that was just very useful. Deleted. One more gone.

More and more things we give away because parents can't be bothered to parent their kids. This is exactly how they win by slowly chiseling away our perceived rights until there is nothing left. I'll certainly not participate in any Internet that requires me to shed my anonymity.

[–] hamFoilHat@lemmy.world 17 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Okay, this has nothing to do with parents parenting their kids. It has 100% to do with the perception that the internet is dangerous and using that perception to collect information about people. That's what they want, to put a name and face to all interpersonal interactions so they can use them for marketing and law enforcement.

Social media converted half of Americans into nazis in about a decade and elected Trump twice. If you don’t think the internet is dangerous, you’re not paying attention.

That said, it’s easy to keep kids off instagram and TikTok without spying. Simply require devices to which children have access to be sold without access to half the internet. Problem solved.

So age verfication to protect the children or to create a menu?

[–] Bruhh@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

They've been telling "It's for the kids" but it all makes sense now

[–] Lag@piefed.world 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

To scramble and divide any organized communication just like they did Twitter and other social media.

Making the move to matrix, and hey it isn’t half bad. Convenience is a hard habit to break

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 2 points 3 hours ago

Convenience as in "it's what I've always used and I understand it" or are you noticing some awkward aspects?

It also seems he can't shut up about the Antichrist, too.

Spoilers: Its always whoever he doesn't like that's been in the news the most this week.

A note to that, Thiel always says it's someone who expresses empathy, compassion, or other similar sentiment.

Yes, the ""Sin"" of empathy.

There are people who've wrapped 'anti-woke' in bible verses and claim that empathy can be a sin.

Because it's him? That would explain all the kids he raped with Epstein and Maxwell. And being friends with Elon Musk.

I'm not really religious but that piece of reading has bothered me for years. I've yet to spot watchers in sack cloth though

The Panoptocon's actual architect was Bentham, but OK.
