Updating Firefox suddenly fixed this for me. I then later just had my entire google account banned and I had to create a new account. They even attempted to IP ban me as well. Said I was banned until 2036 or something like that.

If it's a ban from the whole google echo-system that is fucked up. I sadly still have a lot of important stuff linked to my google account.

I've started recently too. Slow and steady. But if this is true, I need to hurry tf up. It's sad we (in Sweden) practically HAVE to have a google account since we use an app called BankID for everything with banking and identifying ourself with the government. So no google account ≈ no id
You can get the BankID for your bc but only for windows and I don't have a windows pc anymore.

They will still inject ads to your home feed even if you get premium. I noticed the “Introducing” titled video recommendations which are usually 1-2 mins and they essentially place an item in your home feed. When I asked support they confirmed they were targeted ads but you don’t have to click them LMAO. Filthy lying company.
If YouTube ever gets rid of the reverse chronological subscriptions feed, I'm so out. I quit Twitter when they got rid of the reverse chronological feed forever ago, as it just felt useless and confusing at that point. As it is, YT is barely usable with premium, and is only enjoyable with revanced, Grayjay, and browser plugins. Sigh.

I dont even know if its possible to create a proper competitor to youtube at this point. Just from a data center/harddrive point of view alone, the amount of money would be so staggering as to be impossible for anyone but another giant evil company to have a hope at being able to afford it.
There is no real way to compete with youtube directly.
Only options are things that are not direct youtube competitors, Which are typically much smaller, possibly maintaining a narrow subject focus, and require monthly fees/subscriptions to access

There is. People just wouldn't like it. Lowering the resolution and framerates massively to save on space. The nerds (derogatory) would trash the platform everywhere they can have a voice if it doesn't support 4k 120fps, though.
Even if you limit it to 720p, if it were to be even a quarter as popular as youtube, the bandwith and storage requirements would still be astronomical.
not to even mention the computational power required to process and transcode all that data from whatever format you upload it to, into whatever format the platform wants.

I'm only going to click these Articles when my adblocker actually stops working, its basically clickbait until then.
As usual they're deploying it in waves. I can confirm i get no description, no comments and when watching a playlist it will play the first few seconds then it will display "content unavailable" and switch to the next video. If I disable ublock origin or if I logout everything goes back to normal.
I've got the same deal. YouTube in my browser is effectively useless. But there are always ways to circumvent the bullshit.
Had some issues a few days ago. Then the brave army of Brave browser helped quickly. The other browsers should be ok now too with addons. I do not see any problem with videos any more. Still, the dependance on Youtube is terrible, most of the vids are there and there is no serious alternative. One day, hopefully, there will be. Maybe we need to pivot and someone should come with something very new, unrestricted, moderated by community, unstoppable and with no ads. When you do not pay or do not use add blockers, watching anything is almost impossible.
There are alternatives, but there's nothing that pays and promotes like Youtube. The content creators are in it for the cash, or at the very least wouldn't not be in it if it weren't for the cash. They can't even dual post their Youtube stuff because it would be parasitic to their YT income.
uBlock Origin on Firefox with default settings and filterlists still works successfully on Youtube.
Stopped working for me last weekend if i'm logged in. Youtube deploy this kind of things in waves usually.

Tried it out this weekend on my jailbroken iPhone 6. If i read it correctly it should also be installable without a jailbreak but not that easily. Its super cool and nowadays it feels so weird that you got the option to do such shocking things like disabling shorts or reorder the tabs, its really fun.
