How naive. She thinks the US just wants to collapse the IRI and replace it with a nice friendly liberal democracy? They want to break Iran into a dozen economically destroyed statelets. If America gets its way, it will not be a place you'll want to go back to.

I don't think she, or Iranian-Canadians at large, are naïve, as much as I think Bell Media and mainstream media generally want to paint a very distorted picture (e.g., unthinkingly pro-Western Imperialism) of what's going on and how people feel about it
The pro-Shah rallies are pretty big. Seems like a 'Miami Cuban' thing going on
Iranian-Canadians will also tend to have far more historical context than the amnesic and imperialist Western mainstream media. Who overthrew the democratically elected government in Iran (under which women's rights were quite good) and brought in the current regime in 1953? UK and US. Who tore up the nuclear non-proliferation agreement thereby necessitating these bombings (in their own twisted rhetoric)? One Orange Asshole in 2017. How did Irag and Afghanistan fare after US involvement? How might a non-Zionist view what's happening in Gaza?
The levels of analysis aren't even in the same league. This CTVNews is just consent-manufacturing, not news or journalism
Hear hear. Iran can deal with its own government when it's secure from US and Israeli aggression. Terror bombing just makes people rally around the flag.
I have Iranian friends, they understand what the US is, but they said the regime just outright kills civilians enmasse at protests, so its the old the enemies of my enemy are my friends
That logic works both ways. However legitimate their grievances against the Iranian government may be, if they wan't the nazi pedophiles to knock down one more country that opposes them, they're on the wrong side. They're also deeply stupid if they think what the US and Israel have planned for Iran is any kind of improvement.
I don't think anyone wants this regime to survive, but that is not the same as condoning a war of agression against a people in what should be an internal civil matter. Nuclear proliferation is a diplomatic matter unless you subscribe to the "I had to rape you because you turned me down" school of geopolitics."
The US has been making and breaking deals with Iran since forever, including Trumps first term cancelling the existing deal for no reason and with nonevidence of blatently false claims. They have never bargained in good faith.
Now we have eastern europe, middle east, asia and of course the US now in open wars. A rather undignified end to the post WWII peace and order.
What's a 5 character word for our near future? WW_ _ _
More reactions by Iranian Canadians:
... “It's definitely a very bittersweet moment,” said Kimia Tehrani, an Iranian Canadian student and activist.
“I think I'm incredibly happy that a dictator that has taken over my life and my country over the past 46 years has finally died," she said.
“[But] I'm obviously very upset at the civilian lives that are at danger right now, I’m upset because my family is back home and I don't know what the future holds for them" ...
