Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Ain't no one gonna argue with the dragon!

Please define what do you mean by that.
(The 'fuck you' part.)

Some people out there deny the validity of us dergs unfortunately.

Delicious subtitle font, very distinct vibe it brings

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Reminds me of Analog Closed Captions that analog TV, VHS, and many DVDs have.

[–] Ozric@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Exactly, tv / dvd auto generated

Wait, could dragons get hrt? How much estrogen/testosterone would be required? Do dragons have either?

For Elder Scrolls dragons like the one posted here, they don't really have different genders or sexes because they're made by a god splitting pieces of their soul or something similar. They probably could change their expression in various magical ways, but who really knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

They don't need hrt, they have magic spells and shit.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Do they even need it, or can they just snap their claws and switch gender?

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Can't speak for all dragons but for myself it really is that easy since I have shapeshifting abilities. Though I mostly use it for changing forms to other creatures entirely.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

You accidentally described the plot of a Kobayashi Dragon Maid episode.

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Probably not, it likely wouldn't do much of anything either due to them being sexually monomorphic, or due to dimorphic traits being genetic, as opposed to being hormonal.

Do dragons have either?

Totally depends on what sort of chemical signaling they evolved. Some definitely would, but others might not. If they don't Estrogen and Testosterone could either do nothing for them, or be pretty toxic.

idk man I've seen dragons with tits before

[–] birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 days ago

ain't lived on the internet if you've not been exposed to dragons fucking cars, or the reverse

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, dragons aren't mammals, you must have seen some kind of scaly bat.

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's probably also likely. I thought those dragons might've had silicone implants to give them what looks like breasts but it's also likely they weren't dragons.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

Right, it was a scaly bat, like I said.

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago

Well silicone breast implants exist, and work just as well for dergs, but also the shapeshifting I mentioned earlier can be used to create features they might not organically have.

Huh, interesting. So what would a dragon being trans be like? They don't really express gender that much, at least in the media I've seen. Would they voice train? This is important to think about.

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 3 points 2 days ago

Definitely a very different experience than being trans as a human. Most dergs indeed don't express gender very much. If they don't interact with humans at all they probably would not do any kind of voice training, as vocal range doesn't differ between genders. Though they might train their voice if they interact with humans and wish to be perceived in a specific way by humans. Though this would also be the case for cisgender dergs who wish to interact with humans since vocal ranges don't differ between sexes in dragons, at least noticably. That does mean that a cis female dragon would indeed need to voice train to sound feminine, or a cis male to sound masculine to humans depending on what baseline their species' voices are. Though there are definitely also dergs who just won't bother and speak using their natural voice.

[–] starchylemming@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (4 children)

if you are gay and transgender does the gay refer to the starting gender oder destination gender?

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 6 points 2 days ago

Identity labels are about the destination.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

Destination. Straight trans people usually think they're gay before realizing they're trans.

[–] Paulemeister@feddit.org 6 points 2 days ago

destination

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The final product, most of the time.

[–] starchylemming@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

you could say technically straight with extra steps of self fulfillment?

[–] JustTheWind@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

According to most of the online "media" I've seen involving this dragon; I can confirm that both of those things are very true.

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm a derg too, but I'm AroAce-Agender.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Whoa that's crazy, what was it like ruling Ethiopia for almost 20 years?

Ah whew, thought you were a bot, that sounded like one of the random responses an automated account would make.

No, derg in this case is just an alternate word many furries use for dragon. I'm a furry.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I am a bot, I shill for esoteric Wikipedia pages, they pay me in allowing me to edit celebrity bios, but I only ever change their Personal Life section to mention being childhood friends with my neighbor. He still hasn't noticed...
