Usas economy relies on other countries use of oil.
USA is going to collapse once the world wakes up to the fact it's being played out like a Mafia controlled neighborhood.
They rely on other countries using the Petrodollar, not buying oil. Once other countries move to another currency America will go bankrupt, and that isn't speculation, it's very much reality. America is doing everything to stop this.
It won't work though, the talk have already started happening. Americans better get used to the a lower standard is living because it's going to be impossible to increase moving standards under the current debt.
The petrodollar was slowly dying already and the iran war is the final nail in the coffin

The Trump administration announced it will pay nearly $1 billion to French energy giant TotalEnergies in exchange for the company abandoning plans to build offshore wind farms in the Atlantic Ocean and instead pursue fossil fuel projects in the US.

Just to be clear, this money was already spent by the previous administration on federal leases that were going to be used to build these offshore farms. The government will now be reimbursing the company the money it spent on those leases. Not quite just paying the company to not do something like the headline makes it seem. But that's now $1 billion that could certainly be put to better use elsewhere that will be wasted paying this company back.
It's also embarrassingly short sided for a myriad of reasons but that doesn't matter anymore. We're great again!

What's hilarious about all this is if you actually go there and look out to see you can barely even see the wind turbines.
As a huge metal fan I love this but as a wind power fan I regret to inform you those aren't made of metal, they're composite, metal is weigh too heavy and expensive.
I would like to throw my hat in the ring and say that I will not build a wind farm for a mere $500M

Take the money and use it to fund renewables anyways. Trump loves breaching terms of contracts, I'm sure he'd be cool with it.

They are not really getting paid, they are getting the money back they paid for windfarm permits and in exchange they have to invest the money in oil and gas in the US.
WHY IS THIS LEGAL?!
