it's telling that she's more pissed off over been mocked by a black guy than the death of her husband.

Social Media is the Torment Nexus.

I'm actually impressed no major company has set up a service where you send them the text history of your deceased loved ones (or all the communications on their phone if you can unlock it) and set up an LLMs that sound like then and knows enough about them for the grieving people to have a ghost they can talk to.

extremely evil and exploitative, which is surprising no one did that yet

Beat me to it lol.

Yep, that... already exists. Text, audio, and video as well.

I've been reading and watching reports of... basically, you know how people post tons and tons of videos of whatever they are doing that moment?

Yeah.

You can fairly convincingly digitally clone any of those people.

And, one way that this has been and is being used...

You also either hijack or fuck up their phone/email/social media account.

Doesn't really need to hold for that long.

Because you have just kidnapped this digital clone of a real person, and you are now blackmailing their family members, while a whimpering, muffled, crying digital clone of their friend or partner or kid is in the background, responding in real time to you 'smacking them around'.

You can even send pictures of you and your 'hostage'.

Yep. Fake kidnapping.

If you can disrupt or disable the 'kidnapped' person's ability to communicate digitally for... 8, 12, 24, 48 hrs.... thats often enough to scare one of their loved ones into throwing a whole lot of money into some account, for the 'kidnappers'.

... as I said, social media is literally the Torment Nexus.

Wasn't there a Black Mirror episode like that?

Hades is other people

This is only true amongst the people who are always laughing at him. Amongst the people who always liked him, they still worship his ideology.

Everything he did in his life was useless regardless of whether he was shot or not.

The thing I really wish happened upon his death is the deconstructing his table shtick. Clearly a bastardization of what started the free speech movement at CalU Berkeley in the '60s. When the students set up off campus to talk about the discrimination happening with local business hiring practices, and the authorities, including the University, who's property they weren't on, tried to stop them.

This is stupid because most of the people who know who Kirk is, only learned about him upon his death.

I'm pretty online, and didn't know much about him when he was alive EXCEPT that he was a huge meme.

[–] Mim@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well, his face wasn't a huge meme. It was rather tiny, really.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 2 points 2 days ago

His head was a huge meme.

That's exactly how it's supposed to be for evil people. Once they croak, nobody comes to their defense except other evil people, and their heart just isn't in it because, well, they're evil.
