Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

everyone hates the step sibling porn, wait why is it consistently a top category ?

it's either a psyop or people here are just lying

[–] Impound4017@sh.itjust.works 10 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Tbf if I was into the step sibling shit, then not even Guantanamo could get that info out of me - you take that to the grave lmao. You’re just seeing selection bias imo

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip -2 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

I didn't say I was into it

[–] VirtigoMommy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 hours ago

Idk if you’re her but on the off chance you are I love your music 🫶

[–] Impound4017@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Nor did I imply that you were.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 7 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

help, step-lemming ! I'm stuck in the fediverse !!

[–] Impound4017@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 hours ago

A fate worse than death

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip -2 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

The "you're just seeing selection bias" kind of implies it doesn't it

[–] Zagorath@quokk.au 1 points 6 hours ago

No it doesn't. Not in the least.

It implies the comments you're seeing are from people not into it, but the people who are into it simply won't comment.

It says exactly nothing either way about you or any other specific person.

[–] Impound4017@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Nah, or at least, that wasn’t how it was intended. What I was saying is that the data set (people commenting on this post about their opinions on the matter) is biased by the fact that people who dislike it are much more likely to voice their opinions than those who like it, as dislike is the more socially acceptable position.

I’m not saying that your read of the data is biased. Rather, I’m saying that the data that you’re seeing is itself biased because it’s reliant on voluntary self-reporting; the fetish can be more common than you’d think and underrepresented here at the same time, because they’re not actually mutually exclusive if the sample isn’t a representative cross-section.

Kinks are kinks. Incest fantasies are like one of the most common ones on the list.

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago

I don't care about the plot. It's all about how the actors look. If they're hot and do positioning and camera angles I like l, I watch. If not, I don't. The plot I usually skip anyway

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 11 hours ago

I'm indifferent to it. It's more about the chemistry happening after the initial setup for me. As long as there's some kind of setup and the actors seem to be enjoying it I'm not that picky. I assume that's the case with most people while a subset are REALLY into it. Or maybe it's the other way around and I'm the weird one. There's a whole lot of other categories of porn that bother me way more than the step family shit.

[–] RamenJunkie@midwest.social 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You want a real answer?

I don't give a shit about the "siblings" part. Half the time its on mute. Those videos just tend to have a setting I prefer with actresses who are way less doped up on plastic than a lot of other stuff.

Its basically the same idea as "amature" with actual camera work instead if a handicam on a tripod positioned 3 rooms away while ants fuck.

[–] QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works 4 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

wait you watch porn on mute?

[–] EvilHankVenture@lemmy.world 2 points 35 minutes ago* (last edited 34 minutes ago)

Is that surprising?

[–] RamenJunkie@midwest.social 3 points 11 hours ago
[–] Delphia@lemmy.world 13 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Honestly the only good thing about the UK banning step porn is that with any luck I can stop muting my porn. Seriously when they call each other bro, sis, mom or anything I get a soft-off.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 1 points 6 hours ago

They are only banning it if it also involves underage-play, whose ethical concerns are equivalent to animated child porn: no child is exploited in the making of it but it does promote pedophilia.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 43 points 1 day ago

It's just SEO crap.

Add two words to the filming process and you get like seven additional hashtags. Basically it's the direct result of profit incentive lol.

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 34 points 1 day ago (5 children)

I hate it. Drop the "step" you cowards!

Some of us straights are super weirded out by it too. It's either that or mean and I for one don't find either of those things sexy.

We need less step shit and more trans lesbian porn imo. All the best trans girls are straight 😞

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

No we need more straight up incest stuff, fuck that step noise, if you're into that you're clearly into incest fetish proper

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Ok sure, why not. Give the people what they want. Idgaf

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Yeyy! Incest porn for everyone!! 😍

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Hit me up in the DMs to discuss best incest porn actors and advanced masturbation tips!

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago
