She sells magical crucifixes and has warned of consequences from God for those who don’t stand with the president.

The president’s spiritual advisor, Florida-based televangelist scammer Paula White-Cain, said at a book-signing event this week that saying no to Donald Trump is the same thing as saying no to the Christian god.

While speaking during the event, White-Cain recounted how the president asked her to join his Evangelical advisory board before his 2016 inauguration, saying, “He’s got a strong persona, don’t get me wrong. Don’t start a fight with him.”

“Why would the evangelicals come out and vote for him?” she asked before saying that “God told me to” join his advisory board.

“Because one thing I said, ‘I’ll never do politics,'” she said. “But when it came down to it, it wasn’t about doing politics. It was about an assignment. To say no to President Trump would be saying no to God. And I won’t do that.

It is wild that this season of The Boys was filmed months before this.

Yeah, I have been having a hard time watching this season as it parallels too closely with the real world. Like wTF, why is this show that is supposed to be OTT fiction so close to reality?

At what point do we put them all on a boat and wish them luck as we banish them in search of another continent?

Guess it's the official position of American Christians that saying no to a felon rapist is the same as saying no to God.

I don't have children, but if I did, I'd be keeping them far away from Christians.

She's right from a Biblical standpoint, per "Bible Logic".

Bible Logic: render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, Caesar is ruling because it is God's Will that they rule.

... and this is why we abandoned "Bible Logic" many centuries ago, because it's stupid.

No, no, in both cases the result is narcissistic, toddler-level tantrums. I can see her point.

If you see yourself as god, why would u need a spiritual advisor? And if you see yourself as god, you should probably be committed.

God God? As in Doctor Jesus's dad?

So all those little girls screaming "NO" during the decades of child rapes were actually talking to God?

These people don't actually believe in god. Remember Rodrigo Borgia in Assassin's Creed 2 at the end?

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

I've said no to many imaginary friends.

Nobody in ISIS was claiming to be God. These people are worse.

If one of those guys posted a meme representing themselves as the living embodiment of God they would be the next one getting a burning tire around their neck.

I read a lot of history and you get passages describing clearly insane courtiers, soothsayers, self proclaimed alchemists or whatever tell some king that if they just drink so and so much mercury or murder and eat a certain number of albino babies that they will become like Gods and I think holy shit people were crazy back then thank god I live in a civilized s
