32k PH views vs. 981k YT views.

Rough math on that is 32 dollars vs. ~339 dollars. So uhh... okay.

I mean, that's besides the point. Most people go to porn hub for less mathsy videos. Plus, it's extra money for just putting the already made video there

By all means, go get that paycheck, that asterisk is doing some seriously heavy lifting though.

I don't know about PH but youtube is around 2000$ per million

Ah yes ... the Ticketmaster marketing platform ... get other people to create, maintain and pay for the venue, become the middle man and make audiences pay you to see the performers.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Doesn’t quite match up since she is the performer here as well.

Sorry for the confusion ... but I was referring to Pornhub and Youtube ... both platforms that do nothing but host yet receive all or most of the revenue for all the activity, performances and creativity of everyone who posts anything on those platforms. They are both like Ticketmaster, they do very little for anyone in the equation, they don't create, they don't perform, they don't provide support, they just guide audiences to the performance, yet receive the majority of the benefit of the transaction.

You're not wrong, but also you kinda ignore how capital intensive it is to run a video hosting platform. That shit is hard to do at scale and it takes many nerds with expensive salaries. Doesn't mean they should get to control the revenue sharing though. Ticketmaster is just a scam.

Wasn’t it $1,100 from YouTube like a decade ago?

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

It varies depending on the type of content, where your viewers reside, etc.

[–] Mwa@thelemmy.club 1 points 3 months ago

i mean people posted CoD gameplay on Pornhub before.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I thought pornhub banned individual creators. Huh

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 months ago

Just unverified ones IIRC.
