Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

If an 86 year old didn't think progressives were going too far, it would just mean current progressives weren't going far enough or we'd made zero progress over decades...

And because we're extra fucked, sometimes both happens at once now.

But like, this is fucking normal, at that age you just hate any type of change and just want it to be like how you remember your childhood.

The issue is we're letting geriatrics control policy, this guy should have retired 20 years ago before the normal effects of aging had set in.

He did retire 13 years ago...

Progress doesn’t happen by itself. Progress happens one gravestone at a time.

[–] FoxtrotDeltaTango@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This! We need more pragmatic progressives in congress! The corporate elites need to kick the bucket and get voted out

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The reason why the DNC wants to keep the geriatrics in charge is because their mind is indoctrinated to 1980s America where only blind support of capitalists and Israel is accepted.

This is why they only promote people with shameless doublespeak so that they can throw a 3 minute word salad at any question with substance.

That and all the legal (and illegal) bribes they're getting from their owner donors.

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There’s no such thing as illegal bribes anymore. Democrats won’t prosecute Republicans because they’re just controlled opposition.

Crimes without consequences are still crimes, so yeah, illegal bribes are as rampant as they've been since before Roosevelt did his trust busting thing.

Btw, the fascists might be much MORE corrupt (no "might" about it tbh, they DEFINITELY are), that doesn't mean that the Dem leadership aren't corrupt as fuck too. They are.

Me: hey did you hear Barney Frank might die soon?

97% of Americans: Who?

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

I learned who he was when some republican called him “Barney f-slur” and tried to play it off as a misspeaking of his name.

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

He got his social justice, time to pull up that ladder.

take your last breath already

It seems incredibly petty at first glance, but tbh if it was my last day on earth I would probably spend at least a bit of it trying to remind people what an unbelievable piece of shit the Clinton administration was

Then again, I have probably been tormented into complete insanity by the last two decades of American political news, so maybe that's not saying much

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

Guess what side Politico is on?

[–] AlbynRailroad@fedinsfw.app 4 points 1 day ago

Barney is and will forever be stuck in a two party mindset....and that's what this mindset gives you - political brainworms.
