Isn’t that president the biggest threat to national security? Aside from from being a criminal and the most named person in the Epstein files.

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I fewl like it's a national security risk to not have energy independence from fossil fuels as a consumable. My gas price says so. And the coming food and plastics shortages that are on the way as well.

If it gets us to kick fossil fuels, that'd be great imo. Remove the oil subsidies! Ya'll wanted to cut government spending, right?

[–] AlphaOmega@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

How very Don Quixote.

"National Security" has been used to:

  • Make routers more expensive
  • Make electronics more expensive
  • Make energy more expensive
  • Make it easier to spy on Americans in American soil
  • Try to make us pay for a ballroom
[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Hey new, its a really really nice ballroom, or something.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 12 points 2 days ago

We're well aware of his decor preferences...

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

But where did all that private funding go now that they will use tax dollars after all? Oh I am sure humble as the president is he denied all of those hefty donations after all to not be biased. Surely he didn‘t pocket all of that himself like a 5th grader reaching for the cookie jar when they think nobody is looking.

[–] Carmakazi@piefed.social 89 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

He literally just doesn't like seeing them from his golf courses. That's it, that's the entire reason.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 60 points 3 days ago (2 children)

And I still don't get the hate. Personally I think they look neat. Beats a big ugly building, and one potentially spewing smoke.

[–] bluGill@fedia.io 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

People hate change. Those smokestacks were there so he long ago learned to ignore them.

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Which is so insane to me because wind turbines have been around for as long as I can remember. Yet some people treat them as a new threat. They‘re delulu.

[–] IratePirate@feddit.org 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

So, you're telling us we should paint them gold and stick his orange fuckface on them to get them approved?

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 40 points 2 days ago

Misusing national security should be grounds for imprisonment. Just add it to his long list of felonies.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Windmills are a national security threat? How?

"The nation" here defined as Israel and their assets, ie the American politicians they blackmail.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 7 points 2 days ago

Trump thinks its going to kill the government spy drones(birds)

[–] andallthat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because we have to import most of our wind from China? I mean, where does wind come from, really?

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago

This is new, and somehow related to onshore wind farms. Courts have issued rulings that DoD BS about radar interference was BS related to offshore windfarms, (previously OK'd by DOD for not creating interference) essentially allowing them to resume. This would be even more BS, with no possible chance of passing court review, because DoD can't make radar BS claim.

Republicans whining about their energy bills:

Everyone else:

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 33 points 2 days ago

Ah yes, because making us more susceptible to fluctuations in the global energy market increases our security...brilliant.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago

the title is correct is you consider the u.s. president the national security treat

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

I hope the next president authorizes surrounding mar-a-lago with wind generators. Make them extra loud.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

So it is in the best interest of our national security to be more dependent on oil, as recently demonstrated?

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah the value of the oil we use for our energy is dependent on foreign adversaries, but the real national security issue is the fucking wind turbine chilling on our own coastline...

Oh and the whales. Republicans suddenly care about whales. Well... Ok... not those whales that are protected because they're about to go extinct. We removed the protection for those whales so we could drill for oil there.... But the ones near the wind turbines, those whales we really care about!

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago

Republican = GOP = Gas and Oil Party. Everything they do can be traced to trying to benefit Oil and Gas companies.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

We need to stop the energy crisis by making less energy.

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Using "security" as an excuse to funnel money towards the Oil & Gas industry instead of Renewable Energy. That's what's happening here. While real security means diversifying into all forms of energy, not stalling any. (more O&G is actually bad for security when you consider climate damage).

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh it is not just about the climate. It is estimated that 5 million people die a year from lead in gasoline alone. The amount of pollution, cancer, and death O&G causes are far beyond most people's comprehension.

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

Right, but I kind of specialize in climate myself.

[–] yaroto98@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He forgot he's Don Trump not Don Quixote

[–] deliriousdreams@fedia.io 6 points 3 days ago

Don't disrespect Don Quixote that way.

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 6 points 3 days ago

I suppose that's why you need to invade all those oil producing nations, right? Makes sense.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Just shut off all the solar and turbines - er.. "windmills", until he acknowledges the problem he's caused.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Shooting ourselves in the foot to try to get the guy who notoriously will not admit to mistakes to admit his mistake is a bold suggestion...
