Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

You would think a Pastor would have a serious problem with that. Only in Trumps America.

What a shitty, weeble-wobble looking statue with the sunken chest and the slobby gut hanging over the beltline.

Europeans were correct to expell their cultists to America.

The natives and the wildlife would disagree. Let’s not hype colonialism as a means to deal with extremism. Europe dumping it’s undesirables across the globe was a double benefit to their power structures at home and the peoples living in those “new worlds” paid a heavy price for it.

Nonsense. American religion has been this fucked up for decades. Every time I hear about some horrible act of depravity, I get less surprised when I find out it was perpetrated by a pastor, not more.

Burns wrote on social media before emphasizing that the gilded effigy was not a false idol.

“Let me be clear: this is not a golden calf,” he said.

No, not a calf. A different bovine comes to mind.

And this pastor really doesn’t know his bible. Either that, or he knows it but didn’t enter the sheep fold by the gate.

Porcine, more like.

I loath to insult pigs that way.

Ungulate feels like a better fit

I would go with Blattodea

Psalms 115:4-8

  • But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands.
  • They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see.
  • They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell.
  • They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
  • Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

I thought that was a golden calf, not a jackass.

Evangelical pastors are bullshit. They have no doctrine, no structure, no guidance, they make up whatever the fuck they want as long as it brings in money.

Evangelicals are the black-and-orange-wrapped-taffy-candy in the halloween candy dish. They wave a book and say “Jesus” and dumb people follow them.

Several statues depicting Trump have recently appeared in front of the Capitol building. One, titled “Best Friends Forever,” portrays the billionaire president alongside the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Another, called “King of the World,” shows the pair posing like Jack and Rose at the prow of the Titanic.

I liked those better

And no actual gold (however little) was harmed in making them.

Thou shalt have no other Gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Ooohhh so that’s where they put the T1 Trump phones

#nottheonion

Respect that the artist kept the tiny hands and unattractive silhouette at least.
