600 people watched the video and found it impressive.

Its really easy to loose sight of the proportions when it is just a digital number shown. Imagine a full university lecture hall, packed full and all of these people are listening intensely and hanging on your lips. How is that not an impressive feat?

Impression is a marketing or social media term that means the video was shown in a feed or a youtube homepage for a user. Doesn't mean they clicked on it. Just means they were given the recommendation. My thumbnail fighting against every other dopamine click bait thumbnail on the same site. 600 Impressions is basically nothing. Algorithm handles the video very very hesitantly. Chances for this video are not good. Right now sits at 20 views.

Ah okay, thanks for the explanation, didnt know that terminology.

Even if YouTube tore down the algorithm tomorrow, and went back to randomized classification recommendations (like the good old days)… I think it wouldn’t work. As spambots would rule, and your video would still get drowned out.

I’m honestly not sure what they could do, other than demonetize it entirely, which is not going to happen.

Honestly. I kinda expected content creation to be hard .... but boy did I I not expect how hard it really is.

Not sure what your long form video was about, but if it’s a specialized topic, it’s probably more rewarding to find where the community hangs out and bring it up there.

That's not as easy as it sounds. You can find a lot of niche communties here and on reddit. But usually these places don't like self-promotion and small creators. They react allergic to that stuff. It is a common problem among small creators
