I have met one Christian who truly respects those outside of his religion. He doesn't believe those people are misguided or unethical, and honestly meets everyone where they're at spiritually or otherwise. I respect that person. Funny that a religion that preaches such things as the highest priority can have so few examples of people following that mantra that the religion as a whole is known far and wide for the exact opposite behavior.

If you raise your kids right, they'll never end up with a religious friend.

Short of telling them "religion is evil and worthy of ridicule and you should not accept it in your presence" or actively encouraging them to adopt antisocial behaviors I don't see how this works.

So yeah tell them the truth sounds about right.

Lemmy is an astoundingly hateful place.

"Religious" covers an extremely wide area of behavior. There are lots of good religious people and shitty non-religious people. Need to be more specific.

Yeah, I find OPs statement a bit problematic considering it covers so much. Also, indoctrinating hatered seems a bit - counterintuitive to the "my beliefs are your beliefs" people. Also, a friend may be better in moments than no friend (as long as they're not a dick).

Better to be friendly than judging someone based on their parents
