People that feel mocked by this probably take their straightness/queerness too seriously. The joke is that the devs have no way to discriminate queer/straight users, something that is factually true for the game devs and aspirationally true for society.
Balatro is a poker game. I took this to mean straight as in the hand, not straight as in some of their players

No it's a wordplay on the pokerhand and the sexual orientation.
I suppose I can see what they mean - if the goal is to foster inclusiveness then uplifting all would be a better means to achieve that rather than denigrating and "other"-ing some.
Otoh, knowing that it's fake, it's kinda just funny and I don't take it with any seriousness at all.
This is a feature, only idiots optimize for straights.
