I don't mind paying a fee for a browser. It's a lot of development time and I use it a lot. But not like this, and not brave.

I donated to firefox and mozilla until i leanred about the payment of the CEO. I will die on the firefox hill but the company has to change.
This comment section is a great example of tribalism. The topic of web browsers always is for some weird reason.
You can already disable all of that stuff in the regular version, right?
This isn't meant to be a hate comment or anything like that, but a closed mouth don't get fed. I think it's good that there's discourse about this browser and every browser, pointing out the scummy things they do. If we didn't do that there would never be any backlash and most people who know these things now wouldn't know.
Explanation: buy a new one with updated back doors.

This is why I use Waterfox paired with DuckDuckGo tbh. Brave is a scummy company.
I just switched to Brave because I was tired of Chrome stealing all my data and it seemed like a better browser from a privacy standpoint. I like it so far. Now I'm seeing all this hate about brave lol. I'm convinced Lemmy will hate everything I'm doing, no matter what that thing is

Sorry, can't hear ya over the sounds of Henry from Techlore taking Brave down the gullet.
You don't need to pay anything if you go to the settings and disable them one by one. Brave is the best browser out there and only browser I have used since 2019.
