We should really start a dating community or make a dedicated fediverse app for that kind of stuff. The big corpo dating sites are just the worst in every way

If regular dating apps already have way more men than women, I don't wanna imagine this one...

Yeah but imagine your luck if you were searching for a 30 year old dude who uses Linux.

The ratio of :3 on Lemmy tells me its mostly furries and transfems. In otherwords, a thriving online ecosystem. So there is a decent chance this has better odds than most dating apps of having interesting people.

I'm curious about what problem with the big apps a fediverse alternative would solve?

They are a privacy nightmare and also trying to milk you for profit.

They have little to no incentive to find you a partner, they want you to keep using (and paying for) the app. They profile you, they sell all your data and to make things worse there are four(-ish) large companies running it all. They offer multiple apps and just combine all the data in large databases. I would argue they are worse than regular social media, given you share intimate details about you on these apps.

Also the lack of Arch-using cuties in my life. That problem might also be addressed.

Thanks for the reply, the privacy angle makes sense.

Do tech folks still do meet ups? I am not a computer person myself but apparently they are my type lol. In my 20s and 30s my partners were involved in the tech scene in my city and boy howdy people sure were boinking a lot.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Looks like the fields outside the village in The Witcher

You're still known to yourself.

That really doesn't seem to be the case for a lot of folks

A man steps into the same river every day, every day it's a different man and a different river.
