This would be a great suggestion in an administration that cared to uphold these laws.

Go right ahead as if your government will care. Just use your guns you stupid Americans

The french are unable to comprehend revolutions that are anything more than impotent riots that accomplish nothing. Every year they riot over something or other just for their government to go right back to what they were doing before. It's sad.

Ouch replied to your comment instead of the post. Sorry!

They'll bulldoze it anyway and fight it in court. 'Federally Protected' is a meaningless phrase in 2026...

'Federally Protected' is a meaningless phrase in 2026...

It actually means a lot of you can't afford to pay the bribe (a.k.a. settle a frivolous lawsuit).

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Laws protecting endangered species are not frivolous.

But yes, you are correct it does mean that the richer companies can pay the bribes, and a scrappy outsider cannot. Wouldn't even know which lawyers to hire to pay the bribes.

Big Tech: Hahaha let's fuck the people living here by stealing all the water, running up the electricity bill, and pollute and heat the place, all while making a shit ton of noise! We don't give a fuuuuuuck about shit! OH NO, IS THAT AN ENDANGERED BERRY?! ABORT! ABORT!

Your mother was a longhorn beetle and your father smelled of elderberries!

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 week ago

Now go away, or I shall taunt you a second time.

"How to end the protected status of Valley Elderberry Longhorn Beetles" speedrun.

It is irrelevant if it is illegal or not. The punishment is important. If the company just has to pay a fine of $500, they will shred this plant to pieces.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's especially irrelevent if the law isn't enforced, and that is the modus operandi of our corrupt politicians with things their rich pals want them to get rid of but they don't have the support to get rid of. They appoint industry insiders to lead enforcement.

They also will reverse, or just not collect fines levied. With oil companies at the federal level, and with untold companies at the state level, as a propublica article about ND's system of judges reducing or eliminating fines for polluting.

With oil companies, they will make a payment or two and then stop, and government allows them. If you or I owe money to the government for unpaid fees, we go to jail, often a day for every 10 to 20 dollars owed.

The entire government has been seized by gangsters.
