Option 3 needs to say 'It should be on facebook'.

I've earned each and every one of those Allen keys. You bet your ass I'm keeping them.

Look, grab a fistful of these whenever you help someone move house. Leave the ones that fit there "just in case"

I feel targetted by this meme.

Yeah, but get out your callipers first, measure the size, and label it with a fine-tipped white acrylic paint pen.

No reason to give yourself a big stupid random mixed-up bucket of guessing.

these are great for when you inherit something with a stripped to fuck socket head and you just need something roughly the right size that you can hammer into it to get the fucked screw out

For the love of Gondor, there must be an imperial allen key in here somewhere

I invested in a set of hex keys about five years ago and I have never been more smug than when I get to pop those bad boys out. Even brought a set to work...

I like comments like this because it reminds me that there are people out there who don't even own one set of hex keys, let alone one set for each room in the house because they got sick of having to go to the garage all the time. although lately I've been thinking it'd be nice to have a t handle set inside the house too, but that's a hard cost to justify to avoid thirty seconds getting them from the garage

to be clear, I didn't actually buy a set for every room in the house. that's just how many I have. most in the garage, one in the kitchen, one in the hobby area, and one in the office. plus the ones in the bike tool kits, and the impact sets in the work tool bag, and the extras that were a good price and I give away to people when they mention they don't have any allen keys...

oh man then I bought a stubby set recently because I wanted to ensure something I was designing could actually be worked on, so that was nice.

I have a set I keep in my bag so I can tweak my breaks or make other minor repairs to my bike on the road. Made for some funny looks when I went through security at work until I explained what they were.

I got myself a set of ones with a quick connect for a drill. Feels great.

I absolutely understand lol that is next level!

i wish i can cast it into the fire. what am i supposed to do with these? can i throw them out with the trash?

[–] X@piefed.world 2 points 1 day ago

@LickMySweatyTaint Yep, because you never know when you'll need an Allen wrench to tighten a bolt, or gain power over someone.

These will baffle the aliens or future humans living in the ruins of our destroyed civilisation.

Literally had to move to a country where the millimeters were different to finally rid myself of the exquisite curse

[–] Saapas@piefed.zip 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The millimeters were different?

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 4 points 1 day ago

They’re upside down for one thing, and they drive on the other side of the ruler

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

I bet half of this shit is not compliant with any standard measuring system or tooling. They just make these with whatever production run for whatever cheap shit because their screw heads don’t actually properly fit any normal tool.

Recently one came with a screwdriver which worked for like 2 out of 10 screws before it bent in half and collapsed out of the handle. Everything is shit now. Where’s my belt onion?

[–] deft@lemmy.wtf 3 points 1 day ago

Someone should invent the adjustable Allen key.

[–] Dzheyk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

I'm well on my way..got a spot in the junk drawer just for these

I have a super awesome compact ratchet wrench I got in some piece of furniture or the bike my brother gave me. Can't remember which, but it's definitely cooler than a simple allen wrench that I would expect to get. It also came with a tiny little hammer (though this isn't nearly as useful).
