The first actual day of school after summer break is good, the rest of the year thou…

[–] OwensanTowafaSMM@thelemmy.club 2 points 3 hours ago

Nahhh I'm actually chill w school B)

[–] RoddyStiggs@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Honestly the worst thing about school was always that it started so goddamn early. No human being is ready for the world at 7:30am. Children, less so.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 1 points 4 hours ago

I want the mandatory BS parts of life to start early so I have more afternoon to myself.

[–] innermachine@lemmy.world 0 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

All it takes is routine, I'm already half an hour into my work day before the time you state no human is ready by. When I was younger and delivered pizzas till 11pm, 730 am felt early. Now if I wake up at 10am I feel like I pissed half my day away, and I have a tough time sleeping past 7 on weekends unless I have been up all night. Time is nothing but a concept and how late or early u do things bears no significance once you make it routine!

[–] hkspowers@lemmy.today 1 points 20 minutes ago* (last edited 19 minutes ago)

I don't think this is entirely true for the simple fact that my routine was to wake up at 6:30 am and go to bed at 10pm everyday for school from the ages of 5 to 18. In that time there was never a morning that I didn't absolutely hate waking up that early.

Some people's biological clocks simply run later than others. For example, I now wake up at 10 am and sleep usually around 3 am, and feel fantastic.

[–] sachamato@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Lol. Happens also with office work?

[–] OwensanTowafaSMM@thelemmy.club 1 points 4 hours ago

I don't work in an office (not yet anyway) my dad does, so I rlly dont think working at an office has summer breaks smh :\

Without wanting to sound like some edge-of-civilisation Huckleberry Finn-type motherfucker the only thing I really hated in fall/autumn was putting on socks again and wearing a top-button collar after a feral summer.

I didn’t really mind the back to school bit ending my holidays - but wearing uniform as a kid sucked.

Grade school and high school: fuck that

College: absolutely

[–] vaionko@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It'll be like a vacation, working takes far more of my time and energy than studying.

[–] innermachine@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You can afford not to work during the school year?!

[–] vaionko@sopuli.xyz 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Thankfully the university costs me a whopping ~150€ a year, and I get some money from the government while studying.

[–] innermachine@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

That's awesome good for you! I'm in the USA, I had a full tuition scholarship but still had to pirate/ buy textbooks, and as a commuter had to keep up with my car and feed myself. Wasn't terribly fun doing college + 25 hours a week of work and still being broke and never having free time but I got it done without burying myself in hundreds of thousands of debt like some of my friends that just took loans out for education.

[–] cattywampas@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

In grade school and high school I never wanted summer to end and dreaded going back to school.

In college, I couldn't wait to get back.

[–] Cheebus@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Used to go a week early just to spend time with friends, I need a time machine

Weeell I'm gn b in 12th 1ce summer break ends so yeah xD

[–] Nima@leminal.space 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I always thought lemmy was a bit older in terms of demographics of users. kids being here is weird to me considering how much 18+ stuff there is here.

[–] OwensanTowafaSMM@thelemmy.club 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well I'm 17 and I have nsfw disabled for me, so yeah :\

[–] zemo@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Im twice your age and I also would likw nsfw disabled. How do you do it? I've gone by by staying in subscribed feed as much as possible and blocking all nsfw communities I see when I auromatically end up in all.

[–] OwensanTowafaSMM@thelemmy.club 4 points 19 hours ago

OK, first click on the user thing on top of the webpage, go to settings, and make sure u hav "show nsfw content" disabled. hope this helps! ;D

[–] twack@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

From the web client, go to the triple line menu in the top right, then click your username, then settings, then scroll about 2/3 down and uncheck "show NSFW content"

For mobile clients the setting location varies, but its usually somewhere near blocking and filtering settings.

Most 13 year olds have been on porn sites. Lemmy should be fine hehe

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 hours ago

/b/ came out when I was 13. I frequented /b/ from 03 to 08.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As a child, school starting always sucked for me. I was always outside in the woods, or fishing, riding my bike, making forts, listening to or making music, collecting bugs, getting purposefully drenched in pop thunderstorms. The last thing I wanted was to be back in school chained to a desk.

[–] OwensanTowafaSMM@thelemmy.club 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

weeeell its the opposite 4me bcuz i actually kinda enjoy school bc u get a lot of things 2do 2keep u busy xD

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

If you read what I said, I wasn't not busy. There's a time for school and a time for learning outside of school in the world.

[–] OS2Warp@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, you might want to pay a little more attention in English class.

[–] kuiskaaja@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

how you type online isnt always representative of how you write in situations that require the use of formal language, such is the case for me at least

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not sure that's the case anymore with young people lol

[–] kuiskaaja@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 hours ago

you must be too young to know how people typed in the flip phone era :D

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As a parent, this is me waiting for the kids to go back. Does that count?

[–] OwensanTowafaSMM@thelemmy.club 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

r ur kids in summer school rn?

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Nope, can't really afford that. We got our oldest (9) into a town service program for science that does nature hikes but is only a week and half a day. We also got him into another town thing but does cost money, but not to much. It is also only a week and half days. Outside that our youngest hasnt even had school yet but will be going this fall. My wife is a teacher so she is also home. I work from home as of the past few years now and so I am super excited when everyone goes back, including our youngest which will be the first time in years that I get to not work and be stay at home dad. I hope to finally get some work done in silence this fall lol.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Depends on what kind of home life you have...

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] OwensanTowafaSMM@thelemmy.club 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Not rlly tbh but I don't think there's much to do during summer break. lk yeah, i've got the internet, and outside time, and all that other nice stuff. but there are a lot of things I want to do during summer break, i.e. go on car rides, travel the U.S., etc. but unfortunately we dont hav the money for that so ig those r the only options 4me until summer break ends '(:T)/'

[–] onipa@feddit.org 2 points 8 hours ago

[–] python@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago
