Rick Pidcock

That is not a real name

Lots of definitely not gay stuff is going to be happening there. Gay dudes with a thing for closeted guys are going to have a field day.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 4 points 53 minutes ago

Giving your best bro a BJ will help protect him from sinful thoughts.

I'm not having gay sex? I'm hiding my penis safely inside this Christian man's asshole so that women can't get to it unless they are my wife.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 hours ago

What makes a man a man? That's right, a penis. So, therefore, two penises are more manly than one penis.

That's just maths and logic. And you can't argue with maths and logic!!

This is a dumb response to the issue but some people, both men and women, do show up to the gym in outfits that are viewed as inappropriate in a vast majority of other places. It's not terribly difficult to keep your attention focused elsewhere but it is understandable that some want to be able to get in a work out without other people's asses in their face on a constant basis.

I'm sure most of Lemmy will call that opinion prudish or something similar but everyone is entitled to their own thoughts on stuff like that. It's true that fashion is a personal choice but I don't see why you would want to do things you know will make others uncomfortable either.

[–] Barley_Man@sopuli.xyz 7 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Those new popular female gym shorts that look like they vacuum sealed their ass with a seam going deep into the buttcrack. I really do think that's a bit much. "Just let women wear what they want" yes I agree. That's why I built a home gym instead.

If the sight of living human bodies in any state of dress or undress makes you uncomfortable, maybe that's more your problem than theirs. Your line of etiquette logic is so easily manipulated to abuse and de-humanize people that I can't help but see it as anything but a tool of (usually misogynistic) violence.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

maybe that's more your problem than theirs.

Correct. And they are trying to solve that problem by not being in a situation that makes them uncomfortable.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 0 points 1 hour ago

That's not solving the problem. That's running away from it.

[–] Polisheocket@lemmy.zip 3 points 7 hours ago

I like working out with virtually no one there, glad I built a garage gym.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

That's the contradiction.

I think it's lightly disturbing that young gals feel they must dress like their on a porn filming.

But if someone tries to forbid them doing it, I'd be down with the rest of everyone striking and rioting (that's how they do it where I live) because if they want they should be absolutely able to dress however they want (that includes men too ofc).

So I guess education could be a thing, like it's not bad to jog in a tshirt and shorts, don't need to play dress-up for your personal hobbies.

🤷🏻‍♀️

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 hours ago

Hey if you dress like that, don't mind me looking. You clearly like to show off and it works, it attracted my eyes. But I won't stare or bother you.

It's partly because I want to respect you and your boundaries, and how you look is not an invitation to bother you, but also because I'm looking for women (I actually am not, I have found someone already) who has more to offer than just good looks and doesn't need to compensate shortcomings by showing off like that.

But don't mind me looking at beautiful women showing off their body. Just not in a creepy or bothering way. But if you drive a sports car, especially when you chose the bright yellow option, it's for a reason: Attentions and compensation and I'm not interested. There are also very comfortable (if not more comfortable) sports clothes that do not show off everything.

[–] proudblond@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I tend to agree with you, but then I remember the convo I had with my mother-in-law about why trans people had to wear clothing that affirmed their gender when it made her uncomfortable…

WTF, I can’t even. I just avoid talking to her as much as possible at this point.

[–] tias@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (2 children)

Different situations. She can't force other people to dress differently to appease her, but if they make her uncomfortable (for whatever dumb reason) she's allowed to avoid them.

But also different situations because sex drive is possibly the strongest biological drive that we have, so even if you're not helpless against it your brain can be distracted in a way that it won't get from gendered clothing.

I'm not religious or devoid of self control, or even interested in a relationship with a "gym girl". But I would still wish that the women at my gym chose to dress for function rather than to attract... whatever it is they want to attract. It gets tiresome.

[–] mmcintyre@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Sex drive ain't nowhere near the strongest biological drive we have, whatever that means. I'm no humanologist, but just off the top of my head, urges to piss and eat are definitely "stronger". You can't trick a full bladder or empty stomach with a simulation of peeing or eating just using your hands.

[–] tias@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 28 minutes ago

Every function the body has ultimately exists to maximize the chance of reproduction

[–] BitchPeas@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

I wanna attract gainz

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 68 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Theyre gonna learn a lot about themselves

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 1 points 22 minutes ago

Gyms are becoming breeding grounds for white supremacists and the proud boys. Probably more about indoctrination than learning.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 30 points 8 hours ago

.. with their socks on of course.

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 4 points 5 hours ago

And when we had sex it wasn't gay, it was a celebration of our masculinity!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 30 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

How are they gonna stop lust if they cram a bunch of good looking, sweaty, shirtless dudes in the same building?

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 9 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

With the sheer power of Jesus, duh.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

"Jesus is so hot. I want to feel his love fill me up. Cum into me, oh Lord!"

"Uh... I think you mean 'come unto me,' bro."

What's wrong with publicly worshiping another man?

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 14 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Yes. In public. Unironically.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 6 hours ago

Tribalism and feeling like being in the in-crowd is powerful stuff.

Can you edit the post to the original link, OP?

https://baptistnews.com/article/men-only-gyms-seek-to-protect-christian-men-from-lust/

It's real, but also more critical than you'd think, and worth a read:

This is what Hambrecht and Parsons are doing with their male-only gyms. They’re spreading conspiracies about morality and traditional marriage that cast women as dangerous. They’re promoting men rising up as warrior-kings who are ready to fight evil, and they’re getting rid of women who they claim are ruining everything.

EDIT:

To join Parsons’ Christian manosphere, it’s a bit more intense. Gym members must sign a covenant called “Rule of Life” that requires such beliefs as “marriage as one man and one woman,” or “two genders, given by God at creation.” And it requires strict adherence to “the behavioral and moral standards of the Remnant Gym membership agreement.” Their website says, “Christian authority is enforced through ownership, contracts and the courage to hold the line.”

[–] trublu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 hours ago

So it's the "A fascist worked out today, have you?" gym.
