I came across The Newsroom with Jeff Daniels and Olivia Munn. HBO 2012-14. Munn is a much better actor than the shitty roles she has had since, but the show predicted the corporate takeover of US media and the subsequent enshittification of news. Scarily accurate, and in fact was too optimistic because the current shit show is much worse than they predicted would happen and they gave the IQ of the American public far too much credit.

I wfh so this is gold when I find a good show that has multiple seasons and I can actually follow while working.
Any recommendations? I'm in perpetual fear of running out of stuff I like in the cycle. Some shows have worn off on me too. I thought Hells Kitchen would be a staple (they're at 25 seasons) but it's just so much fucking yelling... Gets so old while working
I’m a big Law in order person. Tracker on paramount, silo on apple plus, like cape fear on apple plus, ted lasso on apple plus, easy shows to watch. Silo was a little difficult since sifi can be tough to follow while working. For all man kind on apple plus. True detective on hbo. Just to name a few
I spent a couple of months only watching Venture Bros in my free time and oh boy it was so fucking GOOD

There came a point where Starbuck annoyed me enough that I never returned to the show. I should probably finish it...
I much prefer a show that comes in, does it's thing, and fucks off again. Respect my time.
Stretching it out to a million seasons with a million episodes each just for archaic syndication purposes is a big no from me, dawg.
The Sopranos has 6 seasons, The Wire has 5. I think it's entirely possible to make a lengthy show if you write it that way from the start.
Personally I prefer short and sweet, which is probably why I like British shows as much as I do. Doubly so when it comes to comedies. Faulty Towers is arguably the best British sitcom ever made. 2 seasons. 12 episodes total.
I want to watch For All Mankind, but it almost feels like starting up a new hobby. Already 5 seasons, 50 episodes and it's still going...

Supernatural I would've liked to end when it was originally planned with the 5th season. But I've heard it gets better with the 7th or 8th season. I just couldn't get through the 6th 😅
Yeah, there's that season where things get weird because of that but it gets better in later seasons again. I actually have the last season or last season and half pending to watch on my list just because I didn't want it to end, so I've been putting it on hold for years now.

I can't believe you found out about Futurama later but I am old, so good news everyone. Another person has found out how great Futurama is.
Also, fucking Jeffster! I loved Chuck and how they sold out to subway in order to get the series going. They did those subs right. I used to get subway on Mondays just cause that was Chuck day. They lost it at the end when everyone was getting the intersect instead of just Chuck. Still a fun time.
Add in Person Of Interest and Utopia, then you've got yourself a deal

Fringe, Fargo and True Detective
24 epis per season too.
I just discovered Person of Interest a few weeks ago, and have been binge watching it. It's so good.
And 20 episodes per season. Each episode 40 to 60 minutes.
I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time this year. It was the perfect end-of-day comfort show.
Now I've finished all 7 seasons and there is a hole in my life.
Ope, that hole is a rough one. I still crave more similar style shows with that good mix of light and dark and urban fantasy that doesn't need to take itself too seriously.
Wildly different show, but The Magicians scratches a somewhat similar itch, especially after season 2. It's definitely darker, but is also about young people struggling with the consequences of living in a world with magic that most people don't know about while also having fun with it from time to time
