Legitimately know a person who told me all problems in the world and the reason my life isn't better is because the poor ruin everything and steal your stuff. Hard to find a way to even talk after that stupidity slap.

Not surprisingly they are addicted to fb, x, and YouTube manosphere channels. Imagine if we had no internet, we'd have a lot less of these folks.

In Germany Social Media is used as one of the best ways to propagandise many youths towards conservative / officially known as right wing parties. I knew way to many people who said so much sht just because they found another nonsensical post on (e. g.) tiktok. It just pains me to believe how many young adults, that can vote, were fed full since childhood with this kind of bull. And never forget middle aged men that either went to war or only training and based their hopes on this kinda sht. They never fail to disappoint.

Or tv. Maybe humanity just needs a global two week vacation disconnect.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just can't understand how easy people fall for propaganda and do absolutely 0 research on their beliefs. If even a fraction of humanity had critical thinking, imagine how good life could be.

Not just Americans. Right wing all around the world is doing the same thing. Even here in Portugal, same rhetoric from Chega.

[–] NotEasyBeingGreen@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have a friend here in the Netherlands who blames leftist policies on all problems here, in spite of us having right-wing governments for 20+ years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 5 points 1 week ago

we in Italy have people (and right wing politicians) constantly saying that all the problems are caused by the left in 20 years of govern but in the last 30 years, most of the time it was right wing parties in power or if we had ""left"" wing parties they were in coalition with right wing ones so you couldn't even call it a left government

And we should also talk how we barelly have a left because it's mostly center left and center

Um, aktuly, the Billionaires are all Chinese and Muslim Terrorist. And they are the ones coming over the border, via Trende De Agua, with the help of AOC and Hillary Killington, who both got rich smuggling children for Jeffery Epstein. So we have to fight back by passing out AR-15s to the beautiful Christian patroits along the Texas-Mexico border and telling them to fire when you see the whites of their eyes, just like the Founding Fathers told us to.

Because, under Real Capitalism, none of this would be happening. The problem is all the Socialist Fake Capitalism that's been imposed on us by the College Marxists and the Woke Cathedral of Hollywood Sickos. We need a New American Revolution to wash away the wicked. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown.

Also, I should note, I'm typing this from a McMansion in the Texas hill country while sitting on a cool $50M in SpaceX IPOs. So when we say "Things are bad right now" what I hear is "My neighbors are unseasonably tan and I'm not allowed to sexually assault the house workers with impunity" not "I'm suffering even a modicum of physical discomfort or personal danger."

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago

EXACTLY!!! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!!

lol

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's such a sad state of affairs, my local next door forum is full of things like, headlines of people getting slap on the wrist punishments for sexual assault of a minor and then people responding with "this is what socialism is doing to this country".

Umm yeah, I'm sure mandami winning mayor in new york this year is why this bright red state, with a bright red state senate and bright red state house of representatives has had such lax laws that haven't been updated in 30 years.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Okay, but is it really Bright Red? What if there's an enormous fifth column of hidden leftists who are actually making things worse? Please consider that I don't actually like half the people in my government. And anyone I don't like is a Secret Socialist. While anyone I do like is red in tooth and claw fighting a Rambo-esque insurgency against armies of invisible tankies who want America to fail.

There is no “left wing media.” “Left wing media” is a myth.

Online, mostly. More written and audio than video.

Well the billionaires own the media. Left wing media won't even let their journalists be activists because this would "conflict with objectivity." Meanwhile, right-wing media just parrot narratives (favorable to privatization / big business) and call every sensible progressive policy "woke".

edit: Liberal media.

[–] dessalines@lemmy.ml 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Liberal doesn't mean left wing, it means pro-capitalist, anti-communist. The US tolerates no public leftist presence.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

from what my sibling who did poli sci taught me, a lot of those stances are logical conclusions of the explicit property rights stances (liberal theory promotes personal, private and public property, whereas communism (if i understand it correctly and let me be clear i don't) does away with private property. i'm not well read enough on the subject to say specifically where or how).

we really need different word in english for [member of the communist party] and [believer in/promoter of communism].

[–] dessalines@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

For an even better analysis than you could ever get in a university class, I highly recommend reading Domenico Losurdo - Liberalism, a counter-history for a more detailed history of what liberalism is. Even from its very foundations and founding authors, it was white supremacist, pro-slavery, anti-worker, pro-colonialism, pro-workhouse and prison, etc.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Left wing... media? What's that?

I'm trying to list all of the well-known news organizations that have a large reach, aren't owned by a large corporation, and have large private endowment or some other form of complete financial security not reliant on the government or any of those large corporations.

I'm sure they're probably some in the world. Maybe. But I can't really think of any in the US.

Can anyone help me out here?

[–] quarkquasar@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, I'll help you out here.

According to conservatives, the answer to your question is the "mainstream media".

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But I think they own all of that now, don't they?

[–] quarkquasar@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Well yeah, you know that, I know that, but they're never going to know that.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 week ago

Genuinely everyone has a story about talking to one exactly like this. It's like they put a chip in their brain to prevent making the connection.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Uh, yeah, why do you think billionaires buy up all the media?

[–] Krinkil2705@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 week ago

Because they don't believe those three questions are actual problems. Billionaires will enslave them and they'll still blame us for it instead..

[–] Maldaya@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Anyone else read this in the tune of the Stonecutters' song from the Simpsons?

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

WE DOOOO! WE DOOOO!

[–] LemmyPlaceDN@europe.pub 4 points 1 week ago

I actually read this in the tune of the Spongebob Squarepants intro

[–] distal@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Literally the whole "just get rid of billionaires" crowd when someone says that no one needs more than a million. Everyone thinks they will become a wholesome decamillionaire

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I just want a livable community that doesn't make my kids sick.

[–] distal@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

Okay, abolish capitalism. There is no way of satisfying your needs, which includes surviving climate change, without changing the fundamental structure of society.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 9 points 1 week ago

Yep. Social security is terrible. Grandma is why everything is terrible right now. Not Musk or Altman or Theil. Grandma and her entitlement to money she worked for, for years.

[–] dx1@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 week ago

I really went down the ancap rabbit hole, but the whole time I was thinking the end goal was promoting equality and the government was getting in the way by rigging the market for the ruling class. Which, you know, it is, but really doesn't change anything about the injustice of owners taking all the profit.

[–] ragas@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 week ago

I read that to the tune of 'Shaft'.

[–] hayvan@piefed.world 7 points 1 week ago

Supreme doublethink.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

Why did I start reading this to the tune of SpongeBob Squarepants and why did it kinda work?

[–] SalamiDommie@lemmus.org 2 points 1 week ago

I am starting to feel like the gun toting hillbillies we have made fun of for 30 years are more than our opposition.
