Fucking imbecile.

To put it in a weird context: I am like 50 and I was so conservative as a younger man that I was nicknamed after Rush Limbaugh. OK? I was a pre-Trump right-wing asshole.

And even I favored Medicare for All. As a conservative Republican.

Why? Because it made the most business sense. You mean I can control my health care costs, cover everyone in the country, cut out like 2/3 of the paperwork, anyone can see any doctor, and I can let HR do something other than insurance paperwork? You couldn't build a bigger political win-win-win-win-win.

That's actually the issue that drove me out of the party. Romney running against Obamacare (aka Romneycare) as if he didn't invent the fucking plan was my last straw.

If you're a business conservative against Medicare for All, you need a new CPA.

Someone deserves the Luigi treatment.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Some Democrats. The majority of Democrats currently in power... You gotta be precise or you'll sound like a fatalist, and your self fulfilling work will be accomplished.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago

Fuck Hakeem Jefferies. Traitorous scum should forfeit every penny paid by his salary and the rest of his money taken as damages.

Probably can't even quantify which of his assets are salary, insider trading, or bribes.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 24 points 5 hours ago

My favorite Mamdani quote:

"For far too long, our party has seen its job as managing decline instead of delivering material change for working people. It has seen its job as explaining why we cannot instead of showing how we can."

He's talking about Jeffries and Schumer.

[–] tacoplease@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

Bye Hakeem bye

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 40 points 6 hours ago

Hakeem Jeffries is not a politician I currently support.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 7 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

The Democrat party showing once again they know the best way to fail and disregard their voters.

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 6 points 4 hours ago

I’ll repeat the most complete response I’ve seen to this:

GTFO.

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 24 points 7 hours ago

Dear Constituents,

Fuck you motherfuckers.

Sincerely Hakeem "I've had my picture taken with Netanyahu" Jefferies.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 5 hours ago

The MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Schumer need to get the hook, and be dragged offstage. They are 50% of the reason MAGA was able to regain power, and they should NEVER be given another chance at it.

The first thing the new House and Senate should do is remove these two losers, and replace them with Warriors. Then these two should be heavily investigated, because I'm pretty sure we're going to find they have been paid by MAGA or Israel, or both, to manage the Democratic decline.

They had their opportunity, and they squandered it badly, possibly by design. They don't get a second chance.

[–] spacegoat@lemmy.world 26 points 8 hours ago

This guy doesn’t even pretend. All of his mannerisms point to him being an elitist, out of touch POS.

[–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

Pathetic pauses for a god damn leader of the party. Looked like he never heard the question before.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 29 points 8 hours ago

This motherfucker needs to go. ENOUGH!

OH AND SCHUMER TOO! OUT!

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 26 points 9 hours ago

Establishment Democrat Theater.

Does a thing that would help the people have no chance of passing? They will proclaim their support for it.

When that same thing gains enough popularity in Congress to have a real chance of passing, they no longer support it.

[–] ButtermilkBiscuit@feddit.nl 65 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (2 children)

Jeffries is the quintessential neocon corpo democrat. He, and others like him in the house and senate need to go. If you're a "democrat" and don't support universal healthcare, then you're just another obstacle to be removed.

In other completely unrelated yet shocking news:

Time to get rid of these clowns and get some people with better ideas in their place.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 26 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Even fucking Israel has universal healthcare! And we help pay for it (by paying for a portion of the military they don’t have to)!

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 18 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

YES. And it pisses me off so much. Why the fuck are we subsidizing Israel's high standard of living -- one of the highest in the world, with universal healthcare and publicly-funded higher education -- at the cost of our own?

I am so tired of these old evil motherfuckers literally trying to buy a stairway to heaven with our tax dollars because they got the idea into their fat old calcified brains that God™ would conveniently forget all the evil they've done if they just make themselves friends of Israel and bless Jerusalem. Leave it to lawmakers to socialize the [perceived] cost of their own sins.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 12 points 9 hours ago

Ho-ly sheeet, that's a lot of slush money.

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 hours ago

But he does support in one country that isn't the USA though.

[–] beastrabban@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

I wonder why? Most of our peer nations have some kind of government medical system, why are we so afraid?

Need to get the money out of politics...

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

hope nobody expected him to. despite all the raging about trump and the repugs, he shares more of their ethics than he lets on

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 153 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Well then replacing Jeffries is a priority.

[–] Alatarius@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

Can we replace him with Jeffrey Combs?

[–] VeryVito@lemmy.world 107 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Cool. Fuck him.

Hakeem Jeffries is not a candidate I currently support.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 3 points 6 hours ago

Who would've thought the hand picked replacement of the establishment and Pelosi would be a worthless sold out piece of shit?

Not a single challenger. Not for Jeffries, not for Schumer, not even for goddamn president. Not a single white populist in the party either, discounting Bernie, that I'm aware of, and he's Jewish anywy.

The Party is broken.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 81 points 13 hours ago

So Hakeem is getting his own private insurance and not accepting the one offered with his job? I would like to see the paperwork on that.

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 26 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

This is the corporatocracy in action. An unpopular GOP congress who refuses to check their own party's Unitary Executive, and a Democratic Party leader who refuses to back a measure popular with citizens. Who wins? Health Insurance companies. Who loses? The poor who can't afford health insurance, and those who have health insurance and can't afford their deductibles, so they go without recommended healthcare.

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 21 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Hakeem Jeffries has no business being in government.

Any government.

Any country.

Any level.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 25 points 12 hours ago

Then get the fuck out of the way.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

So continue to support DSA and those Dems who DO support univesal health care. Support them BEFORE the primaries. Support them by voting for them IN the primaries. And support them in the general election should they make it.

But just a quick reminder: A centrist Democrat will still stand up for more of your rights than a fascist, and this is where the "vote blue no matter who" comes into play. At every stage, support the candidate(s) that will protect our rights the most.

The time to act is BEFORE the general election.

Time to kick you out, bitch.

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 46 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Then out he goes.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago

Centrist bastard.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 35 points 14 hours ago

Get him out.

[–] CrispyRasher@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

I hate these establishment dems. No ambition whatsoever just more of the same shit.

[–] wpb@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

Just like all the other democrats, this man is not a real democrat. A true democrat supports universal healthcare. And given that someday, in the future, a true democrat may pop into existence, the only rational choice is to vote blue, regardless of what the person on the ballot believes and whether you agree with them or not. Do your part.

I support Hakeem Jeffries. Because sure, he may not advocate for anything thay improves my material conditions, but he may at some point in the future have a change of heart. And have you seen the other guy?

[–] Triasha@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

Thats a mighty big strawman you have there. Planning a bonfire?

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 3 points 8 hours ago

You can have DSA in your city as long as they endorse the establishment ghouls at the top.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago
[–] rhempel@cosocial.ca 27 points 14 hours ago

@inclementimmigrant Of course not, because then people would ask the uncomfortable question of why the Dems didn't implement it when they were driving the bus.
