How many datacenters are being built for Canadian companies, or how does building a DC for a USA company bring strategic value?

This is all just a suggestion - the government doesn't plan to enforce any of it:

Asked how these expectations will then protect Canadians, Solomon said they have been endorsed by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities — an advocacy group representing more than 2,000 municipalities.

"This is not for the federal government to say what a city, a town, a rural place in a province or territory should ask — but they should be armed with the fact they are beginning not three steps back, but three steps ahead."

Here is an idea. Build a datacentre as a prototype turnkey model in Happy Valley Goose Bay. Get electricity at something like $0.04/kWh. Use direct on chip liquid cooling that pulls heat at 50-60°C and pump that waste heat into Greenhouses so the local communities get year round local produce. Could also heat homes and community pools etc...

Once the model is built, expand to other power rich, food poor northern communities.

I mean it's a start.

I know the stories about still birth livestock are fake but I've seen people interviewed who claim to be experiencing health complications from the noise. Also apparently a noticeable drop in small wildlife like birds and insects.

IMO humanity's goal should be Star Trek. We should build infrastructure with the long term plan of drastically reducing humanity's physical footprint and returning as much space as we can back to wildlife.

Data centers, if done responsibly, can help us get to that future.
