As much as I love the Arrow, I think there's a case for the cancellation - the tide was starting to turn against dedicated interceptors, as the article notes.
But there's no excuse at all for the absolute gutting of the domestic industry that followed.
Two things:
Fuck Diefenbaker. The Arrow was beautiful and he killed it to capitulate to America bullshittery.

Just another example of Canadian culture and commerce being steamrolled by the US.
All of that said, we got our revenge for the Arrow by replacing all the Boeing executives with McConnell Douglas executives who screwed up the entire corporation.
Boeing and Lockheed Martin are such trashy companies.
