It's a theater. Nothing irreplaceable about it. If they want to go down this road there are plenty of other places for performers to perform. Mothball it until we have a normal government again.
It’s insane how childish that joke of a country has become, and everyone from the media to the democrats is just playing along.
Well it is now run by Trump's hand pick cronies and all Trump knows how to do is bankrupt things. Sad but if I were an American I'd worry more about the fact that he is close to bankrupting the whole country.
I believe that statement from the Trump appointed board as much as I believe in the statement "Tommy Tuberville can absolutely name the three branches of the US government."

That's not the answer. It is an institution that was designed to serve the public good and has done since the 1960s. Nobody could have foreseen this.
It can be rebuilt later under better conditions. If you have to bend your knee to a pedophilific felon just to keep the doors open it's not fucking worth it.

When Trump tried to put his name on it before, we learned a lot about the board and its process. Basically how Trump stacked the board, and that the only reason that the name change resolution passed "unanimously" was that they didn't allow everybody to vote on it. Republicans sure do love their voter suppression.
So the problem is that if you fire the board, Trump will simply find other sycophants to put on the board, and you'll be getting rid of all dissent.
Preparatory to imprisonment.

In a few weeks, we'll find that the Kennedy Center has been sold in a "bankruptcy" sale at below-market price to real estate developer John Barron....
Trump's narcissistic meddling did this to the Kennedy Center. Let it die, we can always re-open it at a later time or build a new one.
Leave his name off. Wait for him to pass from McDonald OD. Kennedy Center donations pour in.

This issue falls quite low on the list of current National emergencies. Shut it down until after the midterms.
Trump cares more about getting his name on a building that’s already named for someone else than he does about any of the campaign promises he made to the idiots who voted for him.
I mean delivering on campaign promises is hard. Changing the name on a building is something Trump has experience with.
Oh well, shut it down till January.
Unfortunately, we know from experience that he'll happily bulldoze things and just tell everybody he has the right to do it.
I'd rather it be bulldozed than have Trump's name plastered all over it.

I mean, an easy third option would be that he fucks off and doesn't touch it.
Considering the track record of buildings with his name on them and bankruptcy, putting his name back will have the opposite effect.
"We're totes gonna go broke soon if you don't let us do the illegal thing that's the direct cause of us being broke!"

He kills everything. He is poison in every way. He killed the Center's income by taking it over and adding his name, and now his lickspittles on the board are saying they won't go bankrupt only if his name is put back.
He is seriously the worst person in the world: no one else is such a combination of stupidity and power-tantrums.

Yes actually. Many European leaders did not expect Hitlers rise to succeed or Germany to actually be able start a war because of such buffoonery and big lies. The Nazis succeeded out of audacity and luck, and the third reich would have crumbled like the cancer it was at some point in the 50s without the war, but possibly with a greater death toll, possibly not. The Nazis painted over the cracks in the foundation, didn't actually repair anything. Like a modern US landlord.
