There is no clear way to get the toast out without using a conductive implement like a fork or your finger.

We've been to the Moon ffs

Edit: Woah seems Lemmy really likes this kind of casual post

Use a wooden fork or knife?

[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Yea, worst fleshlight ever.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 2 points 15 hours ago

Nah, can't beat 2 holes

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That bandle that you push down? Push it UP instead. This is a solved problem.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

Not on this toaster

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Tell your servant to reach in and pull out the toast.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Those lazy bastards! You're right, mine managed to trick me into thinking I must pull it out myself... No supper tonight!

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Put a stronger spring in it and leave it on a slight angle toward a table at the opposite side of the room.

Just wanna say I own a set of medium silicone-tip Tongs which are useful in general but they would be my go-to in this situation.

Also I recently saw toaster tongs somewhere for like $5 ... They looked like wooden chopsticks but attached at one end

But also I haven't owned a toaster in 20y once I discovered the Toaster Oven, which fits more toast, has more granular control, and can cook other things. My current one is like 10yo I got it for $20.

I forgot this was ever a problem actually until I saw those wooden tongs and within a week I see your post.

When my toast gets stuck like that, I just pour my beans directly into the toaster and eat it all like cereal

[–] HertzDentalBar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The solution is bigger bread.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nah man shut up I'm saving the environent

I doubt that toaster is powered by renewables...

[–] DudleyMason@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 day ago

The solution is almost as old as the device itself: thin wooden tongs.

We have, most toasters let you lift the lever higher to get it out.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 21 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (6 children)

Mine only does it by like 10%. It must be a bad make

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You have to master the art of the toss. Push the lever hard and then catch it while its in the air.

Get a better toaster or a toaster oven with a sliding tray.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 18 points 2 days ago

Toaster Oven for life!

Most toasters you can lift the pushy-downy-handle up a bit more than it rests at to lift the toast out.

My big problem is that (in the UK at least, don't know about other nations) the standard sized bread doesn't fit fully in a toaster, so the top ~3cm is still bread.

Push it down then up real fast and then catch the toast as it flies out.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] Sibshops@feddit.cl 17 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Wait, that's actually what worked?

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 days ago

Not today but you made me remember I've seen others do it. With the correct toaster of course

turn it upside down, clearly nothing can go wrong

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Is that your skin after years of burning yourself reaching into the toaster?

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

If you only read the title, like i initially have, you might come to the conclusion that the problem is the burnt-in fat on the toaster.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 36 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

Wooden chopstick(s)

Or plastic I guess, but mine are wooden

Rapidly push the lever up to eject your toast and grab it midair. Works 95% of the time

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 day ago

We have... I'm more impressed that you found a toaster that doesn't. I don't think I've had a toaster in the last ten years that didn't give a little bit of leeway on the lever to let you pull up a little bit more to be able to grab it.

There is absolutely a Technology Connections about this.

“We” have had toasters like this since at least the 1920s.

Sorry for whatever parallel universe you live in that doesn’t have toasters…
