There is no clear way to get the toast out without using a conductive implement like a fork or your finger.

We've been to the Moon ffs

Edit: Woah seems Lemmy really likes this kind of casual post

The problem is that you're trying to use a fork or your finger. Bread goes into the toaster. You're obviously supposed to fish it out with a bread knife.

I don't know about your toaster, but mine is built so you can lift the handle slightly from the standard position, which lifts the bread mechanism and allows you to access the bread without poking into the toaster.

My toaster came with plastic tweezers.

Toaster oven. Solves this problem entirely.

Use a toaster oven

Just levitate it out with psychokinetic energy, duh.

I think your toaster might be broken.... The pieces are supposed to rise half way up after it's done toasting

The solution is on your end, don't put in slices that are too thick.

There's more than one way to toast a slice.

There are toasters with wider slots:

Here's a conveyor toaster:

Here's another cool, old toaster, you push a lever to flip the bread, toasts one side at a time:

This would work over your stove:

A glass sided toaster that splits in half:

Btw, why is there none with a hinge, so the edge goes up?

[–] DisasterTransport@startrek.website 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The comments on the antique one sided toaster are silly. yeah dude let's RETVRN to a time when toasters were slower and more likely to burn your house down lmao. It's a cool specimen, and lots of older stuff is genuinely designed better than newer stiff, but not this one.

They sell wooden tongs specifically for this purpose.

For example:

Gah!

Crumb!

Help...

[–] mhzawadi@lemmy.horwood.cloud 3 points 1 day ago

What you need is a better toaster, like a 2 slice dualit. They are amazing, you still raise the toast when it's on and has a longer popup

see: 1920's "Sweetheart Toaster"

If i remember correctly, this is a gimmick so you can have a romantic toast breakfast where it releases your toast at the same time (British culture, eh?).

But when I heard about it, i instead honed in on how its design provides a FABULOUS solution to getting ALL-CRUmBED-oUT, which is recurring the problem you identify in your post. See, since the sweetheart toaster suspends the toast in the air and heats on one side at a time (a more elegant solution, I may add), it doesn't trap any debris of any sort into any part of of the device at any time - Try saying that with a mouthful of jammy bread!

This particular toaster design is from 106 years ago I think.

That sounds like it was written by a LLM AI. Why do you, and other people love depending on them? It is inaccurate, and bad.

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Which bit of it? The screenshot is googles AI, yes, which comes up when you Google things. Everyone is way too familiar with it to get mad about me using that. The rest of the comment, I.e the text, is all my words.

[–] CanadianCarl@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The first 2 paragraphs sound like ai. I also don't use Google AI, I ignore it.
