I think "reasonable metrics and achievable KPIs" works better. You don't really "achieve" a metric, it's the scale that measures your achievements. KPIs have achievable "goals".

Well, to be honest, lots of people successfully achieve that very expensive goal, the dead ones are a very tiny minority. So money does buy that almost always.
