I mean, look, ICE has been publicly executing people for the last year and change, right? That's some fucked up shit, and the people in power show no signs of stopping it. That's barbarism.
The people in power have nothing to gain from stopping it. The people who are NOT in power have everything to gain from stopping it- but the cowards choose not to.
It would be difficult to find something non barbaric in the history of the US.
You already are a barbarian nation for still having capital punishment in the first place.

The brown shirts have thrown legal citizens in concentration camps, they've kidnapped people and have done so with zero consequences. They are going to sell tickets to EXECUTE someone on live tv (who I might add is in a wheelchair). We are far passed barbaric.

The only countries to carry out public executions in 2025? Iran and Afghanistan. That’s the company Pete Hegseth wants America to keep.
The only countries actively committing genocide in 2025? USA and Israel. So why didn't this alone push America over the barbarity line? It seems to me that Iran and Afghanistan are ones who should be taking a moral audit of their public executions after seeing America emulate it. And isn't Israel supposed to start mass hangings of Palestinian hostages soon? Maybe won't be live but they certainly will be taped and disseminated.
