Cosplaying to be anti “American Tech”, then kissing the empire hand for blessing.

This is called “neoliberal euro syndrome”.

And here I thought they kidnapped a waiter.

Exfuckingscuse me motherfucker!?

Antifa is considered a terrorist organisation in fascist America. What the fuck is a European country bending over to them for!? This is a violation of our sovereign rights! Has the Netherlands forgotten why we're trying to get as many of our services to be euro-centric, or open source?

Jeezis christ!

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

The Netherlands is a US vassal state not a country.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 25 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Stop. Capitulating. To. Trump.

It's hard enough fixing this shit without the rest of the world empowering the far right. (And stop yelling at us to fix our mess when your governments keep throwing shit on the pile. This is your fault too.)

[–] themaninblack@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

I sort of get why governments and their leaders keep playing nice with trump - they want to keep trade flowing smoothly.

But isn’t it a worse long run strategy to do this no matter what? Seems to me that they are exposing weakness which could hurt them in future negotiations. Not that any future, sane-minded world leader would ever implement tariffs again.

[–] BrownSugarBits@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

what 1984 bullshit is this that Anti-fascism = terrorism?

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

Dude, "antifa" has been labeled a terrorist organisation by the FBI, thanks to Orange Palpatine.

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Smh they’re not even right about the meaning of the iron front symbol/“3 downward left arrows inside a circle” can’t believe my taxes go to these jabroni-hogs who can’t even get on wikipedia.

Cucked by fascism

[–] Dezorian@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

If i read the source from NRC correctly (I'm dutch), the disks were already wiped. I think this is a matter of not letting a small incident irritate the orange monkey too much. Let's keep that when it actually matters. Not getting some wiped disk with noting on it.

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Okay, that’s more like hilarious malicious compliance, then. I pronounce the Dutch still cool

The current US administration must be removed from power. And we must be better versions of ourselves.

[–] trojanbark@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

as a non american whose country has been relentlessly fucked by america, i am happy to see america rapidly declining

[–] demonsword@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago

yes, me too, seeing the US flailing about as it crash and burn is among the sweetest schadenfreudes I've tasted my entire life

[–] LBP321@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

I thought they were talking about a restaurant server at first... 🤦🏻‍♂️

[–] FukOui@lemmy.zip 9 points 12 hours ago

That orange asshole

[–] stumu415@lemmy.zip 38 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Look at ASML and Nexperia. The Dutch government bend over and take it all the time. That happens when politicians have no spine and follow the lead of that cunt Mark Rutte. The one who called Trump 'Daddy'.

Why so many European countries are run by cowards with permanent knee pads on for the US is beyond me.

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 14 points 13 hours ago

run by ~~cowards~~ whores for money

Fixed that for you.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

We thought the USA were the good guys, it takes some time to adjust and elect new representatives.

[–] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It will take generations for the US to regain the trust and respect it once had.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Nah that's gone. It will take generation(s) to become a normal country we trust like a normal country. They really had it all; wealth, soft power, hard power, respect, trust, people saw up to them, wanted to be like them, and they just set it on fire, repeatedly, while dumping manure everywhere.

Amazing.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

If history is any indicator, it will take one and a half generations of relative stability and everyone that matters will have forgotten. Probably there will be lingering, mostly misplaced bigotry (especially if there is nothing in the way of reparations) but there's too much potential in the resources (markets, raw materials, laborers, tourism, etc) here to stay sidelined for long. Look at Germany, the UK, China, Japan, Italy, or Belgium. Colonialism, screwing allies, even outright genocide is papered over as soon as the populace blinks to keep things moving.

Or there's the Bad Ending where far-right movements control more of the world and we're a successful part of the new Axis powers.

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Takes about 100x longer for our corrupt politicians to realise the most basic truths, too :(

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

What do you mean? We have the least corrupt governments in the world here in Europe. Sure, shit happens from time to time, but just look at Orbàn!

I hate this "both sides are bad", "everything is bad", it's just playing to the Kremlin playbook.

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

you missed the plot. "least corrupt" (debatable) does not equal "not corrupt".

European countries are run by greedy fucks who love money and are generally fascist assholes.

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago

As a European, I sadly agree.

Sovereign tech is when the US asks nicely for a server seizure in your country and you hand it over.

This is probably the smaller peanuts tho. Italy debankig A/I on behalf of the US is the serious shit. They could have moved their tech operations from Amsterdam if they still had access to their money. That's the much more serious sovereignty gap.
