President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order that puts on hold a sweeping new sanctions package targeting the Russian economy, telling Congress the pause was in the national interest.

Trump personally signed the legislation just last month and his move came just two days before a deadline set in the law itself for its implementation. It drew shift condemnation from congressional Democrats.

Named after late South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, the legislation had sought to clamp down more quickly on the flow of financial resources fueling the war against Ukraine.

Trump’s unexpected decision comes a week after he stunningly said the U.S. had agreed to purchase diesel from Russia to try to bring down global energy prices, despite that potentially hurting Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Much more in the article.

Unconstitutional exercise of executive power. Violation of the Separation of Powers. Usurpation of Congress...all of whom are spineless and won't do SHIT about it.

"Russiagate" was not a hoax

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 19 points 18 hours ago

Every source in the Steele Dossier was said to have died in Russia before anyone could confirm anything with them.

~~national interest~~ got reminded of a video of him and two underage girls in a hotel room in Moscow

[–] ZombieMantis@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

I don't think it's that. His supporters know he's a pedophile and they like it. He likes Russia because he's invested in their markets, their oligarchs bribe him and his cadre, and because he and his ilk intend to make America into another Russia. It's little saint James all the way down.

There is literally no single humane thing Trump could have done that it would be too embarrassing to release.

And I'm using "literally" in a literal way.

I think a pedo tape of him would still cause problems, a lot of people know he's a pedo but actually seeing it would be hard for most to stomach. And if he cracks down on it, that would convince most people it's real

A video of him murdering and eating a baby would very probably lead to actual consequences, just for the sake of the argument. Which would be surprising, but not that surprising...I mean they say every accusation is an admission, and I'm sure you remember pizza gate

It could also be videos with congressmen... Trump himself might be nearly untouchable but who knows? If enough of Congress gets switched out (especially in an Epstein scandal) the new members are much more likely to remove him from office

I’m sure it’s worse than that. The country has shown it doesn’t give a damn about rape and pedophilia, I’m sure even if he broadcast that video as an official ad, MAGA would still vote for him.

USA….officially a country for rapists by rapists.

At least his supporters don't care.

Woman stands up at one of his hate rallies, and wearing a shirt saying release the Epstein files.

The monkeys at his stupid hate rally decide to respond by....punching her.

Donnie calls her fat and calls her a him.

I wonder where all those fucking idiotic qtards went, by the way? One of them was even a Propaganda Barbie for donnie for about 2 seconds this week. She was (is?) into Qanon horseshit; meanwhile, no Epstein files released.

Hmmmmmm....

He's been in bed with them for decades though, him and guliani and who knows what others. They were involved in pre ordering rooms from his buildings to get loans despite not pre ordering, in laundering money from his casinos, and all sorts of other stuff. Propublica did a piece of the president's part.

Guliani got inside information from the russians to take down their rival italian mobsters. The italian mobsters are best pals with the administration now though. Just ask steve bannon.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Until after midterms, no doubt.

[–] patruelis@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think permanent. He's a Russian puppet.

[–] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

Wouldn't Dems need a strong majority to do it?

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 5 points 22 hours ago

Flailing, disorganised, unpredictable. He's checked out and his administration is Oops! All Scheming Viziers
