Donald Trump lost it on the federal judge opposed to the government’s work to improve a public golf course in Washington, D.C., in a social media screed early Monday morning, saying his administration has an “absolute right” to perform the work.

In a Truth Social post before dawn, Trump attacked U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes, a day after he unveiled his plans to close the public East Potomac Golf Course for 15 months to construct “one of the Best and Most Spectacular Golf Courses anywhere in the World.”

Why the fuck is it normal now for a president to just flat out lie loudly about everyone he disagrees with? Republicans not denouncing him constantly ensures their place in history as complacent Nazis

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

I mean it's both really but I did mean complicit.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Once upon a time (e.g. Nixon), they pretended so that they could remain morally superior. Now, they stopped trying to maintain the lie.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Yep. I kinda miss them pretending honestly. Even if it's pretending, it sort of holds flood gates closed in a sense. I think we can definitely expect more openly corrupt politicians across the spectrum moving forward.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Where have you been since 2016?

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Observing this daily. One can remark on fucked up things which aren't brand new

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, but you said "normal now," as if this hasn't been a thing for the last decade and more.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

It becomes more normal every day. Thanks for the reminder that anything I say will be wrong on some level, semantically or otherwise, though!

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Remember when they impeached Clinton for lying 🤣

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Yes and they clutched their pearls so hard they turned to diamonds

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

oh it's been normal for nixon, reagan, bushes, all the republicans to just lie. trump's just so fucking dumb that he's doing it every other minute and his lies are only plausible to the demented and developmentally challenged.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

Why the fuck is it normal now for a president to just flat out lie loudly about everyone he disagrees with?

And why is it normal that there is no effective push-back against those lies?

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

I'm gonna start re-writing and re-reading headlines with Trump in them so they don't seem as normal to me:

"Federal Judge Halts Plan on Potomac Golf Course, Current President of The United States, Donald Trump, Has a Fit and Lashes Out in Demented Retaliation"

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

I hate the way this headline was written. It should have been “Crazed lunatic Trump…. “. The judge was quite normal.

[–] SippyCup@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Always add "while shitting his pants"

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 40 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

He 100% just wants it closed because he hates public courses...

[–] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 37 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, he wants to privatize it, give contracts and future control to himself and buddies, and he wants to name it after himself, I guarantee it. If I’m not mistaken this wasn’t just a public course, it was a low cost public course - he can’t stand the idea of regular and poor people benfiting from government services or being on golf courses.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And with a lot of public parkland around it. The plans show the removal of Ohio Drive, a very poplar biking/jogging/walking route. Can’t have non-rich people anywhere near his precious…balls.

[–] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 2 points 3 days ago

Not since he met Melania, anyway

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

He wants to remodel it because his brain is Swiss cheese and all he wants is to force his "tasteful redecorating" on the world. I honestly think if you gave him a phone with decorating games on it, he'd be subdued.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 3 points 2 days ago

And now he’s calling the existing course “Trash Island.”

WELL WHO FUCKING DUMPED ALL THE EAST WING DEMOLITION DEBRIS ON IT, YOU STINKING SHIT STAIN?!!!

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

Trump, without using Reyes’ name, called her “a crazed lunatic whose courthouse tapes will reveal, may be insane?”

Ok, so Trump's brain may be pudding, but one thing I can guarantee is that the thing about "tapes" didn't come out of nowhere. He's simply not creative enough to make shit up like that. Someone must have told him they feel there is something actionable in the court transcripts. In a few weeks we're going to see Republicans complaining about something in the transcript that they can use as a bullshit technical point to blow the whole ruling up.

Remember when he went on and on about Fani Willis's "boyfriend", and we all thought he was nuts, then they used it to scuttle that investigation?

A key part of Trumpism is taking advantage of the fact that he is allowed to lie and cheat with impunity, while even an appearance of anything untoward by people working against him is routinely used to Trump's advantage.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Every accusation is an admission. The pee tapes are real!

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I am of the opinion that the pee tapes are not real. But, the Russian disinformation machine is doing its best to spread the rumor that they are.

What better way to feed into one man's paranoid delusions than to manufacture a scenario that he knows is fake? That just makes him double down on being defiant, and not trusting anyone.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Maybe there's video of him raping children

[–] TN2VOA@reddthat.com 1 points 2 days ago

It wouldn't matter. Trump cannot be blackmailed. He would claim it was a deepfake and his followers would believe it without question. He is apparently also above the law in the US. He is aware of both of these things. He cannot be blackmailed.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 0 points 2 days ago

Unfortunately all video evidence at this point is pretty much inadmissible due to AI.

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Does tape sold for recording even exist anymore? Last I saw was a microcassette for phone messages about 35 years ago.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

Well yeah, as Trump's mind dissolves he will start forgetting anything that happened in the past 40 years or so. But he remembers porn on Betamax, at least.

[–] Fredselfish@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We can't afford gas, grocery prices are out the roof and this is priorities.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

But I was told he would fight for the people

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 15 points 3 days ago (2 children)

She needs to send the US Marshals Service out there to halt any work. Arrest the bulldozer operators if need be.

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

100%. If you won't punish the fascists giving the illegal orders, at least punish the foot soldiers carrying out the illegal orders to deter the illegal execution of these illegal orders.

[–] skittle07crusher@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

One day this idiot will be dead and have no more idiotic opinions and no more that ever matter in the slightest

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah but it might not be for 30 years because life is unfair like that

[–] SippyCup@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Nah, he's at the "no unexpected visits" stage of dementia. Soon enough it will become impossible to hide how far he's slipped.

[–] impairedimperator@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Closer to 15, based on his family history.

Probably be a vegetable for 10 of those years, too. Good thing AI will be there to do his speeches.

[–] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Not good enough, the nepobaby-in-choef needs to croak right now.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

As the administration has decided to ignore all court orders they don't like, what's the point if a legal system in the US, anyway?

[–] rogsson@piefed.social 7 points 2 days ago

Can someone Kirk diaper Donnie already

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

JFC, donnie dickweed here apparently doesn't have anything better to do, I guess. No other problems, I guess.

No, he has to focus on what really matters to the American people - monuments to himself, golden ballrooms, golf course work, and of course "men in women's sports". He behaving almost like a stereotypical Faux News watcher who is in a memory ward, except for they voted him into the WH.

Everything is crazy expensive, he's losing the war in Iran that he started, and it's widening in the Middle East while he's helping Russia attack Ukraine.

How long has it been since one of his mouthpieces insisted that the Trump admin follows all court orders? They like to say that a lot.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

Blob the Builder is a blob but he ain't a builder.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Takes one to know one (crazed lunatic)
