Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville said he would rather see Republicans keep control of the House by five seats than watch Democrats win the chamber by the same margin, warning that a “nightmare” razor-thin majority would leave party leaders “hostage to the DSA.”

I do declare it is high time we escort Mr. Carver back to his room in the dementia ward. He's gone and thought he was relevant again.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Unfortunately he is representative of the DNC consultants. The guy interviewing him treated his opinion as a given.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

The guy interviewing him treated his opinion as a given.

Somewhere, there's a tongue for every ass.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Oh I get that. I just wanted to Fpghorn Leghorn at James Carville.

Now who’s, I say who’s responsible for this unwarranted attack on my democracy!

[–] treesquid@lemmy.world 71 points 3 days ago

Carville is such a dumb old fuck. If it weren't for "veteran Democratic strategists" like this fucker, we wouldn't have half the problems we do.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 90 points 3 days ago (7 children)

I wish someone would ask him "What would DSA force them to do?"

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 55 points 3 days ago

Stuff people like and CEOs don’t.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 41 points 3 days ago

Socialism!!! They would do socialism like Medicare for all, educating kids, and taking care of people! We can't have that; this is America!

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

Probably all the stuff the stuff the politicians of his generation promised 3 to 5 decades ago.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Do something better than the ACA or label AIPAC as a foreign entity.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Por que no los dos?

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago

Facilitate the change obama promised all those years ago.

[–] criscodisco@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I would also like to know what horrors he thinks DSA could possibly unleash before he farts and dies in a hospital bed. Dude is 81. Just shut up and watch the birds ffs. Why are you still doing this, man?

[–] missingno@fedia.io 51 points 3 days ago

Establishment Dems hate the left more than they hate the right.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 62 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What in the actual fuck. I think his brain is is turning to mush.

Being "hostage" to the DSA would be worse than being hostage to the Nazis?

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 28 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Surprise surprise -- liberals would rather side with Nazis than give a single inch of compromise to the left.

[–] slickgoat@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That word "liberals" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this instance.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 2 points 3 days ago

Fair. It's a word with many different definitions, and I didn't specify which one I was using.

James Carville needs to fuck off to hell. Stop listening to the old guard fucks who e lead us straight into the gapping maw of hell. I hope you eat shit James.

[–] KittensAreKittens@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago

I've been calling him the Agin' Cajun.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

It really pisses me off that journalists keep interviewing these assholes that lost to Trump TWICE

Whatever options / strategy they have need to ignored

[–] Janx@piefed.social 14 points 3 days ago

So... You're literally rooting for the fascists then, Carville. You're an enemy of progress and your own party. Please retire or go away.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 36 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Carville needs to lay off the whisky. Sad truth is he's long been a Third Way DINO who helped get us to this situation in the first place.

Guy's too lazy to actually persuade or change where people are but instead hides just how actually conservative he is and thinks we should just continuously cater to the blind, as if that has no repercussions.

Anyways, what he's really saying is "Trump isn't so bad." Fucking nuts.

[–] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 4 points 3 days ago

Third Way, Third Position, what's the difference?

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

Fucking Boomers of any party are the plague

Establishment Democrats are basically Bush Era Republican douches

DSA are the only candidates I've been excited about in decades

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago

Hay James, fuck off!

[–] DogMedic101st@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

Fuck James Carville, his southern drawl crypt keeper ass. He's one of the people that has been taking jabs at progressive Dems. He's helping nobody but his wallet.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

The Democratic party leadership hates the DSA, Democrats abandoned labor decades ago and the DSA is pro labor.

Personally, I think the DSA is "bait", used by the Democrats to win elections, but then abandoned.

I hope I'm wrong and the DSA does hold the party leaders "hostage" to force attention to their cause. That's what they're supposed to do. That's how you pass legislation, or at least get some concessions.

I suspect the Democrats will betray the DSA at the first opportunity. That's what Amazon pays them to do, after all. STOP LABOR AT ALL COSTS

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

This reeks of "After Hitler, Our Turn" dipshittery

[–] blueworld@piefed.world 13 points 3 days ago

He's just fear mongering anyway...

as it stands now there is about a 1-in-4 to 1-in-3 chance the majority is thin enough that DSA is the actual tipping faction. Projections have the Dems winning 11-17 over the 218 line.

As always it's more complicated then indicated. Nuances about agendas, caucusing, defection, rules, and more.

Isn’t that the guy who said “it’s the economy stupid” back in 1991?

And what since? I think I kind of remember him telling Dems to play possum after Trump won.

I’m pretty much a moderate, but I’ll take the far left over the Republicans any day. I’ll vote my guys in primaries and I’m whoever doesn’t want to overthrow democracy and deport my wife in the general elections. Not a hard choice.

[–] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 days ago

This is why it's critical for dems to win as many seats as possible. We desperately need to move left and votes are more important than ever

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I would hope he is next on the trump cross hair, but he's an old white man, and likely safe for a while.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 19 points 3 days ago

The guy has been awfully silent about the GOP trying to deport Ilhan Omar.

He's terrible

[–] RFKJrsBrainworm@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What exactly does the DSA propose that is not universally well received??

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Well, the dragons don't like their hoard being reduced.

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Just shut the fuck up and retire in obscurity already, James. Jesus Christ.

[–] Rat_in_a_hat@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

But who will warn us about the scary DSA!?

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

Oh, I'm sure someone will.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 7 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Wow, I thought he was dead.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

I hope he lives a while longer, so he can watch in horror as the DSA wing takes over the Dem party just like MAGA took over the Repub party.

[–] Mostly_Gristle@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

No, that's just what he looks like.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

I was tragically disappointed as well.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 8 points 3 days ago

Yes, James, we know.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Democrats can take complete control of congress and they’ll still be hamstrung by the parliamentarian. They’re not going to do shit.

But, I’ll still vote for them, just to piss off the pedo pres.

Wonderful to see how crappy neoliberals really are.

Vote Blue no matter who*

ok, now pay him to say that octopus is better than crawfish.

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

Old guard Zionist first rule over America first, instead of in favour of any progressive policy/shared prosperity for Americans. DNC gets paid to lose whenever that is best Zionist supremacist outcome. They call it "donor pressure" instead of corrupt treason.
