Crypto grift still grifting? Still waiting for the blockchain to change the world. Any minute now... the only people I've seen use a terminal to buy bitcoin have been senior citizens.

It is going to chnage the world:
Netanyahoo said Israel is going to use the blockchain to dodge sanctions

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 1 points 16 minutes ago

Using slop to make fun of crypto certainly is a weird choice. They're very much adjacent.

Saddens me that crypto is now about investment/gains instead of being improved as a fair, decentralised, convenient, fast, secure money system.

Looks like we will have to stick to the banks and their bullshit yet after all.

I remember the moment it clicked for me that this was the case. In early 2018 I overheard my roommate listening to a Bitcoin podcast hosted by people I understood to be prominent members of the community. They were trying to justify why it was a good thing Steam no longer accepted Bitcoin to purchase games. I couldn’t see a single upside to a currency, whose purpose is to be exchanged for goods and services, no longer being accepted for a good. I thought about the large amount of crypto the podcasters likely held and how they were probably trying to keep other people in to keep their own crypto worth more. But if the people near the helm were no longer able to admit when something is wrong, then the dream was dead, crypto was dead to me, and I stopped getting more.

Yeah I too like Blockchain stuff until it just turned into an investor bro space.

Like this whole argument about how to prove someone owns a game could be a really good blockchain use case.

When was it not?

People only complained they didn't get in before 2016 so they could be rich.

There were more honest attempts to spread it and use it in physical/online stores back when BTC was under 1000 than now, and it's not like we got higher exchange rate fluctuations. If anything, it becomes more stable.

Naw, we all talked about the once in a while pizza purchases that were reported on Reddit, but then a week later the $20 pizza was worth $100 in bitcoin. Right from the start.

"A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It's where the rich use public transportation.”

Looks like an absolute win to me

What the fuck are those chairs? Prison bus?

[–] inari@piefed.zip 6 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I'm used to taking buses in Brazil and that looks pretty standard to me

[–] Hiro8811@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I guess I'm not used to seeing such busses, usually the ones I been into are as low to the ground and the chairs are placed around parts like wheels and what not like this 100369

I expected you to post an image of a bus with actual seats that doesnt make you sore if you ride for more than one station, but no, you just posted another prison bus but slightly lower lol

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 4 points 2 hours ago

The car is also on the highway but the tachometer reads 0 km/h

[–] Casuls_Die_Thrice@lemmy.zip 21 points 5 hours ago (14 children)

And that’s why I never got into crypto.
