In the final days of the US Senate campaign in Michigan, Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed is leading in polls, winning praise for taking Donald Trump and his Republican opponent to task with incisive humor, and providing a clear closing message in evocative ads.

But his former Democratic primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), said Friday that while she reiterated this week her decision to support El-Sayed in next Tuesday’s election—a plan not shared by her fiancé, who publicly announced he would vote for Republican former Rep. Mike Rogers—she was demanding concessions from the Democratic candidate, in a statement that sought to tie him to a recent online ad by an outside group.

"Well I couldn't get what I wanted so I think I'll do the cringiest thing imaginable and abandon my entire career", the incredible true story.

On the eve of the eve of the eve of our BIG and important election, a unifying moment has arrived, our democratic nominee for U.S Senate disavows the Rebellion PAC ad made by Hasan Piker’s uncle that claims Jews are responsible for America’s economic woes.

Sorry, Haley, but this strawman crap just isn't going to work anymore. No one said "Jews are responsible for America’s economic woes." What they did say is that Trump and Israel's war on Iran has made prices for Americans go up, which is unequivocally true. Criticism of Israel is not necessarily antisemitism, it's not going to work, you're done.

Don’t underestimate the stupidity of the right. It could definitely work, because it has in the past.

Bullshit like that “disavowal” hinge on the idea that “Israel” and “Jews” are the same thing. Putting the sins of Israel on the Jewish people is fucking blood libel all over again.

(And to be clear, I’m agreeing with this comment. Zionist talking points like that are accusing Jews of blood libel by refusing to distinguish an entire global group of people from the fascist government of one country)

Maybe she realizes the only way she has a future in the Democrat party is if El-Sayed loses and centrists get to keep the "Only moderation can win swing states" narrative alive.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 51 minutes ago

So what you're saying is, she's a traitor who should be forcibly ejected from the Democratic Party.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 37 points 2 hours ago

No shit, she's a neoliberal and she's doing what every neoliberal would do.

That's why she lost the primary. And why she's willing to help Republicans win to stop progress.

This isnt "party infighting" she's a sore loser who cares more about Israel than America. And in 3 months she won't be an elected representative anymore.

Headlines with "slammed" are routinely slammed here, except if Common Dreams writes them.

Finger-banged?

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 31 points 2 hours ago

Just rotten all the way through. I’m glad that this is even coming to light.

[–] rhvg@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

I’ll be surprised if it’s not arranged by AIPAC.

This is why we can't have nice things
