Its too bad that plane that went down in Florida wasn't Elmos!

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 2 points 18 minutes ago

Yeah sure you are. I feel like this is all just talk. These hackers who say they're gonna do something big against fascists never seem to actually go through with it.

Instead they'll probably go after grocery store freezers and fuck up a bunch of poor people's food. Thanks a lot, jackasses...

I don't know why there aren't more hactivists. You would be hailed by the people for doing shit like this.

[–] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 hour ago

You also get quietly whisked off to a prison that isn't a prison where you are charged as a terrorist.

I would like to see power in the hands of the people, but using technology to do it is really risky. You have to be extremely good at covering your tracks or you're fucked.

A lot of stuff what billionaires are doing shouldn't be swept under personal privacy.

"Don't bug me, it's my own business how I spend my money", some would say. For random people, that's true. But when you command absurd amounts of wealth, maybe all of that stuff has consequences to the rest of the society.

We demand transparency from people who have power over our lives, and oligarchs shouldn't be an exception to that rule.

[–] ColonelThirtyTwo@pawb.social 1 points 11 minutes ago

A good quote I remember hearing from somewhere is "when you vote with your wallet, the people with more money get more votes."

[–] willington@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 44 minutes ago (1 children)

I am more afraid of the billionaires than the atomic bombs.

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 1 points 25 minutes ago (1 children)

Religion terrifies me more.

  1. Billionaires and Capitalism.
  2. Abrahamic religions. (no problem with Voodoo or Shinto or Sikhism or Bahai or ...) Prosperity gospel is not ok. Saying that hell is mostly filled with women and that women are less capable of civic life than men is not ok.
  3. War.
  4. Boom (for some) and Bust (some never experience the downside, some never experience the upside) cycles and economic fuckery like prices bieng too high or just volitile, many rented instead of owned across the board domisiles, ads, paid subscriptions, spam, scams, gamblified everything, climate and energy mismanagement, science and all other legitimate human needs bow to the "need" for profit and lately the "need" for aristocratic rule (Trump and Musk and Yarvin aren't the only ones who want to be kings over me), etc.

"plan to" why plan? Just do it.

this link is pure gold, but I wonder how much time it will last, there must already be an army of lawyers chasing these people

[–] jambudz@lemmy.zip 1 points 25 minutes ago

Well, part of roe v wade overturning is we don’t have a right to privacy… so there’s no right to privacy

Generally, I am anti-doxxing... but the billionaire class at the very least deserves loud protests outside their little enclaves.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Loud protest outside their homes is the polite thing to do...probably not what they deserve.

[–] AmyAye@nord.pub 25 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (2 children)

Most of them are wealthy because they effectively mass scale doxx everyone to advertisers anyway.

They hate shit like VPNs and places not using any linked ID info and online handles and shit. Anything providing any later of anonymity.

Fuck these people.

[–] ElChinchilla@lemmy.world 1 points 27 minutes ago

"Continue without supporting" but a button for the entire existence of billionaires

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

Totally correct.

And the only reason we're getting movement on spyware TV's is because these bastards are affected by it.

[–] NKBTN@feddit.uk 34 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

They have blood on their hands. Indirectly maybe, but there is a LOT of blood. They deserve much worse than protests

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 17 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Agreed 100%.

What they've done is no less criminal for being legal.

[–] fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 7 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

That's the thing, a lot is illegal but laws aren't being enforced.

[–] ElChinchilla@lemmy.world 1 points 28 minutes ago

Pop on over to Finland real quick and chop down 3km x 6km of forest

[–] teri@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 4 hours ago

At least in this case "doxxing" could restore an asymmetry: Billionaires own the major internet platforms, they already know a good portion about a big number of people. It's just not called doxxing.

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 50 points 7 hours ago

Generally, I am anti death-penalty... But the billionaire class, at the very least, deserve guillotines, gallows, and their heads on spikes outsider their little enclaves

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 20 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

it doesn't count when you do the same thing back to someone that they're doing to you

if they have all our data, we can have all their data

Didn't Musk post his own phone number on the site formerly known as Twitter recently?

[–] bonesawmcl@lemmy.world 34 points 6 hours ago

And a shipping address..

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 38 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

This is vigilantism. When the official authorities don't seek justice, vigilantes often pop up. I may disagree with their methods, but I think the fault lies with these oligarchs for courting the injustice.

[–] Carl@anarchist.nexus 16 points 5 hours ago

It’s encouraging vigilantism, but I wouldn’t call it vigilante work directly. I agree with the overall sentiment though: When we consider the Four Boxes of Liberty, the billionaires have already done everything they can to nullify the soap box, ballot box, and jury box. All that’s left after that is the ammo box.

[–] Dadifer@lemmy.world 24 points 6 hours ago

Doxxing is not vigilantiism. Luigi is vigilantiism.

[–] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 11 points 6 hours ago

Courting injustice? They’re literally bribing and propagandizing to the tune of billions of dollars a year to prop up injustice in this society. In favor of the wealthy class of course.

This article alone will be reason enough for countless raids and stolen laptops and phones, but not from billionaires.
