Would that I had the confidence to leave the house with a crucifix necklace, Oakleys, bib overalls with no shirt, and a "SHOW ME THAT BUTTHOLE" trucker hat.

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 1 points 10 minutes ago (1 children)

Those are Pit Viper glasses. You can wear Oakleys and not scream "douche nozzle" but Pit Vipers take you to the top of the bell tower and scream it to the whole town.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 2 points 9 minutes ago

That's how far out of the sunglasses scene I am.

[–] suodrazah@lemmy.ml 1 points 36 minutes ago (1 children)

I'll take (my mediocre level of) intelligence over confidence any day of the week. That guys life is probably quite dull, and full of anger.

But yes, it would be relaxing oh my.

You really have no way of knowing that.

Going in a bit, it's just about 2 blocks away and takes all of 5 minutes. Not sure if they have anyone there early or of I have to find a other place. Being a small town it'd seem weird to have people sitting there all day for a dozen to walk through for a month ahead of time.

[–] kkj@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 minute ago

Yeah, but most of the races were uncontested. For the ones where the single candidate was a Republican, I wrote in "No Confidence". That didn't accomplish anything, but it made me feel smug.

[–] Aedaz_@lemmy.zip 2 points 29 minutes ago

Can’t vote till I’m off work.

[–] Drekaridill@lemmy.wtf 2 points 12 minutes ago

No, and I have no intention to.

(I dont live in the US)

[–] thinkingofyouihaveananxietydisorder@quokk.au 3 points 34 minutes ago (1 children)

I miss when you couldn't just assume this guy's politics.

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 minutes ago

Really, you still shouldn't. I know a lot of people who you'd probably assume were MAGA that are far from it.

[–] Poem_for_your_sprog@lemmy.world 30 points 2 hours ago (10 children)

Why do people wait for the last day instead of voting early?

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 4 points 15 minutes ago

There are way less early voting locations and they typically close earlier, so they're (purposely) much less convenient to plan for. The one time I early voted, I waited in line for like two hours. They ended up staying open past the advertised close time so those of us still waiting in line could vote.

Meanwhile, this morning I went and voted at my normal location and it took like 20 minutes from parking to getting back in my car, and the poll workers there said it was the busiest they've seen so far.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 19 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I'm in an area that isn't under threat of having my vote invalidated

[–] muffedtrims@lemmy.world 12 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

This. My area has long lines for early voting as there are only 4 polling locations for early voting. If I wait day of, after the before work morning rush, I'm in and out in less than 5 minutes.

[–] AmyAye@nord.pub 1 points 11 minutes ago

I vote by mail now in IL because we are not savages, but when I voted in person I always got up, threw some slob clothes on and went at like 6A or whatever when the place opened. In and out. Then I went home and got ready for work.

[–] Meatwagon@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 15 minutes ago

That's interesting. It's the opposite here. There's no line for early voting, but there's a small one for voting day. Early voting is just slightly more convenient.

[–] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 hour ago

In the US, we like to make voting a challenge. No election day holiday, polling places usually have hours within 9-5, and mail-in ballots are being postmarked late because of cost cutting in the USPS.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

Early voting is one location deep in the city center with a 2 hour line, USPS can't be depended on to deliver a ballot in time. Day-of voting provides a local, low-traffic polling station.

[–] Poem_for_your_sprog@lemmy.world 2 points 41 minutes ago (1 children)

Oof, early voting is 5 minutes away for me and usually has no line.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 1 points 32 minutes ago* (last edited 28 minutes ago)

I'll go out on a limb and guess you're also not in a gerrymandered, voter supressed, GOP-led hellhole of a state. Sounds wonderful.

[–] Whirling_Ashandarei@lemmy.world 2 points 43 minutes ago

Well, for me I've been out of town then sick since early voting started. Finally can get out today. Normally though I prefer to skip the lines and vote early. My state also does not allow mail in without reason (which is fucking nonsense but alas).

I hope you've been getting some cozy Wheel of Time reading in while you've been recovering from your sickness

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

But what if there’s a last minute announcement and it turns out the democrats are all aliens?

Spoiler: I’d probably still vote Democrat in the unfortunate event that I’m an American and in that situation.

[–] AmyAye@nord.pub 1 points 10 minutes ago

I would vote for sentient poops in human suits before the fucking Nazi Fascist of MAGA/the GOP.

[–] lookitsjustin@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Alien democrats are far better than humanoid Republicans.

than most presumed-human dems honestly. and the ogres.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 2 points 52 minutes ago

sometimes my schedule just doesn't align, or the early voting locations are a 3 minute bike ride away instead of right at the end of my street

disclaimer: not american

Because the hours for my early voting location are the same hours that I work.

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 2 points 1 hour ago

Because Missouri hates me. Mail-in ballots are only for excused reasons. I would have voted early, but there wasn't a location that would be convenient for me. This morning, I was in and out in 5 minutes.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 12 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

just your average golden cross wearer

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

[–] moonshadow@sh.itjust.works 1 points 49 minutes ago

I tried but they were real dicks about me not having an address/phone number. Did take the envelope but I'm not real confident they'll actually count it

[–] pebbles@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Does this man listen to the clown music??

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Do not blame juggalos for the mess we're in! Last time around, Violent J endored Kamala.

[–] Themosthighstrange@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

I already voted early in florida, doing my part

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago

I mean, I get the point being made but, that's a platform I can get behind though.
