Vance will deport his wife and kids as an example to be led by.
He'll talk about how it's a sacrifice that needs to be made and how it's actually beneficial for them. He's actually the victim of the success of making America great again. But it's a sacrifice he is willing to make.

Her husband's been dead five minutes and he's married. Gross.
The hug, I could maybe understand, but that comment is either weird or performative. I'm leaning towards the latter, given her husband's background as a performative mouthpiece for the right. She seems like she's basically giving her and her dead husband's endorsement to this administration. They can't help themselves from jerking each other off in front of everyone. "It's ok that we act like this because we're doing it together." and "the left is trying to break us apart, if we don't stick together while we act terrible then we'll all be alone again."
They are disappearing people illegally. Who gives a single flying fuck about the interpersonal relationships of these two ghouls? The only relationship they should have is with the other inmates in federal prison.
I don't really give a shit about the East Wing either, but whatever catches people's attention and turns public attention against these losers is useful.

I dunno, seems like a stretch to me. This particular drama probably says more about our touch-averse culture, or starvation for constant political drama.
In isolation perhaps, though I'd consider the whole thing in poor taste regardless. The circumstances and timing doesn't exactly help however.

Here’s my conspiracy brain take. With turnips rapidly declining health, they know they need the next puppet to take his place. J.V. dunce is all they’ve got but his wife will never be accepted by the cult. So, this kirk shit happens and all of the sudden they have an already cult approved stepford wife, complete with a perfect sympathy story for cover (‘he was helping me with my grief and it just happened like it was meant to be from god!’).
If any of this happens, it just feels too cooked up, a desperate throw of the dice. But, I think the magats are just the right kind of stupid and evil for it to work.
