πŸ˜‚ Honestly I start to feel bad for someone like this. The entire point of these LLMs is basically allowing someone to live inside of a pretend reality where they can't be hurt... and this guy can't even manage that.

Getting a "429 Too Many Requests" error.

But if true- this is depressing. I've always viewed Ars as a sort of standard bearer when it comes to tech news. Other outlets like The Verge do a lot of "best [product]" articles with affiliate links, and while I understand why, and don't think they're being dishonest, it just feels cheap. Seeing Ars fail at basic fact-checking is truly depressing.

I loved this episode, it was really funny to hear "normal" people navigating getting an instance up and running, but they did without too much trouble. They also have 7K monthly active users since creating it, which is a great infusion of fresh blood to the fediverse.

β€œI think that people assume, because the pictures aren't real, that it's not as damaging,” Brewer told me. β€œBut if anything, this was worse"

How did you set them up with Plex?

I tried TubeArchivist a while back but as I recall it was much more about archiving entire channels and didn't have great customization like "Only keep latest two episodes". It might have changed since then.

Last time I looked into it something wasn't working right about it, or maybe it was just more complicated than I wanted but maybe I'll give it another go...

Can FreshRSS auto-download YouTube videos with SponsorBlock? That could be a game changer...

As others have said, you can run Home Assistant on anything if you want to just test it out. Their own hardware is a great choice though.

But to answer your broader question, yes. Home Assistant is the choice. It works better with literally everything else out there.

Right, exactly. It also takes 3-4 seconds to load in which time I could have just middle clicked and loaded it in the background. Maybe on mobile I'd use it but only in rare circumstances.

What exactly are the AI features everyone is talking about? The only one I've encountered is the "long click to preview link" and it's... not super useful but far from annoying like Copilot.

He seems to be active in replies to his own posts. I recall him being frustrated by a lack of tools available for high follower accounts like they apparently offer on Twitter.

This was an unusual (For Alec) and remarkable episode. I found it very inspiring. Also Alec is one of the few YouTubers I know of on Fedi. @TechConnectify@mas.to
