I miss my pandemic D&D^1^ group. It was an 18 year old that just finished high school, two people in their mid 20s in grad school, me in my mid 30s, and one person in their mid 40s. Every once in a while we'd get some interesting generation-gap moments.

^1^ I don't even like D&D specifically, but that group really made it work.

People are lazy and don't think very much. Spotify is right there.

Also enshittification: it was better to draw people in, and then they made it shittier and people stay

I buy music (mostly from Bandcamp). Now I have a big library and no subscription fee.

I'm not even getting phone screens. I don't think humans are even reading the resumes, and when it is a human it's someone non-technical who thinks Java and JavaScript are the same.

In-group to protect, out-group to bind. That's all.

Many people take the idea that "everyone is entitled to their opinion" too far, and it turns into "everyone is entitled to their facts"

Humans are feelings driven, so they're more likely to go with what their friend says than some mean scientist who makes them feel bad. The inability of people to put aside their feelings is part of why we're in this mess.

Being ruled by the UK would probably be an improvement

I'm mostly pissed that when the bubble pops, the rich will still be rich. People will suffer, but not the people who deserve to suffer.

The "all authority is illegitimate" might generate some friction with some people who might overwise be an ally. They might stop listening and lose any nuance.

I struggle to think why I would want this instead of traditional search.

"velvet underground live after hours" is a perfectly fine search. it doesn't need to be a conversation.

Modern social networks are pretty trash, but I don't have an iPhone so this is a non starter.

Even so, I'd rather just... text my friends.

Windows is pretty bad and their management are soulless husks.

They could rip out all the AI garbage and I wouldn't trust that they learned anything. Fuck 'em.

Linux is free and meet all my needs.
