Everyone who supported the Jan 6 insurrection should be ineligible to hold office per the existing amendments, for starters.

I like the idea. I don't want to use facebook or similar, but that's where stuff like "BuyNothing" is most active.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about self hosting (beyond what I've picked up working in software development) so I don't see myself running one of these myself. I'd probably use it if it came to my neck of the woods (NYC)
Conservatives are stupid, basically. Given a set of facts they will draw back conclusions

They really think we're stupid. Unfortunately, they may be mostly right.
Not surprised it's a Republican.
The point of school is to learn stuff. Facts and methods. Teachers aren't typically asking you to solve math problems or summarize a story because they need the answers.
And yet so many people who would be replaced if this AI stuff worked seem so eager to embrace it.
I'm so tired of hearing about AI at work. They don't have the fundamentals of software development down - no tests. no linters. no automatic deployment. Dependency management is a joke. Code reviews are a rubber stamp. They only this quarter stopped people from SSH'ing onto the prod machine and making live, not in source control, changes. But they want everyone to start leveraging AI. Spending untold piles of time and money on it.
It would be far cheaper and more cost-effective to spend like, a week, on software development fundamentals.
Meanwhile, I've stubbornly forced my way through various processes and red tape to get a bare minimum of checks that run automatically on PR. This week it found someone had pushed a script with a fatal syntax error, gotten it reviewed, approved, and merged. My check goes live and flags this before it's in prod. No one cares. Management still just wants to talk about AI.
Platforms could moderate their content. They choose not to.
I mean it's horrible but the only way people change their mind is from social pressure.
I had a coworker that was very right wing and months of talking I got him to accept queer people can be filed under "live and let live". That was a big improvement from where he started.
This is in line with what I already believed.
I used to think "Teams can't be that bad" and then I had to use it for work. It's astonishingly bad. I'm not sure if it's just how they use it at this place, but it's bad.
Everything is a chat. There's no channels. So nothing is discoverable, and if you sort of remember a conversation you have to see if it was in the standup chat, in the planning chat, in a ad hoc chat...
There's no threads. So if you have a chat for say release-123, and someone says "Feature 1 has a bug" and someone else says "Feature-2 has a bug", you can't isolate them in separate threads. It's all flat so they smash into each other.
