A lot of people died to get the pittances we got from the ownership class. Decades of

  • labor: we want to paid in real money, and work less than 12 hours a day 6 days a week
  • owner: no
  • labor: then we're going on strike
  • owner, to the state: HELP
  • the state: sends police and troops to do violence to labor

The idea that peacefully asking for stuff on its own is effective is largely ahistorical. A happy myth sold by the people who would be receiving violence.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watermelon_stereotype

After the American Civil War, in several areas of the South, formerly enslaved individuals grew watermelon on their own land as a cash crop to sell. Thus, for African Americans, watermelons were a symbol of liberation and self-reliance. However, for many in the majority white culture, watermelons embodied and threatened a loss of dominance. Southern White resentment against African Americans led to a politically potent cultural caricature, using the watermelon to disparage African Americans as childish and unclean, among other negative attributes

Fragile white people getting mad at their fellow poors instead of the rich assholes keeping them all in the dirt.

Some people are just... not okay. Something in them in broken. Perhaps it could be fixed, but we live in the bad place.

I don't think it's going to stop until like armed people show up at the scraper's homes. But I doubt the state would send the police for something like this, because there's not enough money at stake.

However, counterprotesters became outraged at the way Minneapolis police seemed to escort Lang’s caravan out of the area. Videos and photos show MPD officers forming a barricade around Lang’s group, pushing away counterprotesters attempting to get Lang out of the car. Protesters at the scene claimed the MPD prioritized Lang’s safety over theirs.

The police are class traitors, fools, and monsters. Fuck em.

Any forward progress is going to have to deal with the police goons that are happy to do violence for the rich.

Conservatives will say anything to align with the in-group, to hurt the outgroup, or for personal power. They have no internal beliefs beyond those.

I feel like it's been that way for as long as the US has been a country. Maybe longer. There's almost always different rules for rich people. People pay lip service to ideals like freedom and fairness, but then there's the reality.

Climate criminal. Sentence him to a decade of litter removal, and bar him from holding office or working in any advisory or leadership roles.

If it's like before, eventually it'll be just a vague "things were bad" like the gilded age or great depression. Humans aren't great at learning big picture things.

Well that's consistent, if you accept their belief as true. Who cares about the mortal body when it's a blink of an eye before eternal heaven?

Unfortunately, they are almost certainly mistaken. This is probably all they get.

Most people just aren't that bright. And many people are struggling to get food and shelter.

Many people do have time and money and decided they didn't care, though. Gotta go play video games, I guess.

Rather, it’s the presence of a competitive market.

Competitive markets are hated by private business owners
