According to ISO-NE data, the average cost for gas for producing power during January was $24.25 per million British thermal units. That translates to roughly $170 just to produce 1 megawatt-hour of electricity for a plant with average efficiency. In other words, that additional wind generation could have cut costs by an estimated $2.3 million a day.

A ~$71 million saving in monthly costs may not seem significant, but that represents just a sliver of New England’s potential offshore wind capacity. Three other large offshore projects are fully permitted but not yet under construction, largely because of the administration’s consistent opposition to the sector, and there are other large wind leases nearby.

The whole point is to keep gas prices high — wind is a direct competitor for the gas used to generate electricity.

The ISP will get which news outlets you read, but not which articles. Not ideal, but perhaps not as bad as you fear

I think the amount of content scraping being done to feed the LLMs has led to a lot of news outlets making it harder for anybody who can't easily show that they're human to access their work

Threats like that aren’t terribly effective at motivating people to vote for you

It means that they're taking revenge for imagined slights by attempting criminal prosecution on bogus pretexts

Yeah, the Republicans got Tate out of Romania to prevent a trial

He's universally hated except by high-level Republicans who worked to protect him from prosecution

I think the Republican threats to burn down their homes might have backfired just a bit
