The agency estimates delaying a super-pollutant phaseout will result in millions of dollars in savings, but its calculation doesn’t take many costs into account.

Basically, they count cost to industry, but not the avoided harm that comes with the phase-out. Republican math which socializes costs while concentrating profit

Roughly what happened:

  • A few days ago, Bovino promised something big
  • ICE was being brutal, but not stopping the protests or the hunger strike inside the concentration camps
  • Bovino sent in the Proud Boys, but the protesters ran them off
  • Gov. Sherrill sent in the state police, who attacked the protesters, including those in "free speech zones"

The methodically planned strategy is intended to pressure noncitizens, including many with legal status, to leave the United States.

Protesters have flocked to the detention center since last Friday as detainees are said to be holding a hunger strike over the facility’s allegedly poor, unsanitary living conditions.

These proposed Office of Management and Budget regulations would render the federal research grant review process opaque

This, along with rules barring collaboration with anybody who has any affiliation with any foreign university, will effectively end the US as a place where scientific research happens. Recovery from that does not happen; the Germans similarly destroyed their research establishment in the early 20th century, and it basically never recovered to anything like what it was.

The former hedge fund titan is waging one of the most expensive gubernatorial campaigns in US history — on a platform the business community hates.

Despite the rising body count off the South American coast, researchers say cocaine is as easy to get in many parts of the United States as it was before the strikes began.

It's almost like the point was to get paid by the cartels, not to stop drugs.

I don't expect something like this to be passed into law so long as Republicans hold a majority in Congress.

In seeking identities of those behind anonymous social media posts, the Trump administration is intensifying its pursuit using grand jury subpoenas.

Key thing here: he thought they were venomous water moccasins (even though they were not) and picked them up with his bare hands, which is how people get bitten. This kind of "I am immune to snakebite because of my religion" thing has a history of getting people killed.

Apparently the average Republican has seen so many muscle-man AI images of Trump that they think they're incapable of even that

Not sure about prosecutors, but they've been actively firing immigration judges for approving asylum claims.

It helps, but isn't enough for stabilizing temperatures on its own. That takes also ending fossil fuel use and switching out a few industrial trace gases

Not an unexpected outcome, but it's notably worse than with classic casino gambling because of the always-available model those firms have.
