Sorry, I meant it more in a poetic sense to mirror the original sentence. But that was obviously not communicated. My point is more that we should be pressuring DNC candidates to meet the low standards of voters, instead of telling voters that they should abandon their principles. The DNC will never be able to successfully confront the GOP without a positive vision of change and position of blue no matter who can't offer that

Learn some history.

Back in the day, ex-slave Frederick Douglas had a choice. He could support a full on abolition candidate who was probably going to lose, or support Abe Lincoln. Lincoln had said that he had no plans to abolish slavery. Douglas decided it was better to support the eventual winner and have a seat at the table than make a futile gesture.

Moral purity is more important than results, clearly.

Christ, man, then voters with standards need to start showing up to primaries.

This isn't some issue where Our Aristocrats(tm) have already made all their policy positions ahead of time and then forced us poor little plebeians to go along with it. I was fucking on the ground in 2016 and 2020. I remember how the Dem primaries - the primaries for the least right-wing third of this country - went.

Voters choose who runs, extraordinary situations like 2024 exempted. In 1992, in 2000, in 2004, in 2008, in 2016, in 2020, the voters chose who they did because most people do not have the same standards of you or I.
