Any slap-fight is subject to comment removals. Fights full of rule violations will result in temporary bans to cool off.
- No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.

I don't like this way of putting it. I don't want the democrats to be a "toe the line" party. What's risky is going along with Republican bullshit, not breaking from specific Democrat positions.
"Voting against their constituents' interests" might be a better way to put it.
Yes. Siding with the republicans is very much voting against this constituent’s interests.
That right there is an example of how the media drives the narrative. The exact same thing can be said about the other party, but they save such loaded language for just the one. It’s designed to sound like a reasonable statement while sparking an emotional response.
Americans are swimming in a sea of propaganda.
It's going to get much, much worse. Ellison has bought all the traditional media, and social media is going to be overrun with AI comments pushing talking points. It's really not hard to get AI to say the same thing in slightly different ways 10,000 times. And it's going to work. It's pretty easy for 10,000 "people" to bully you off of making contrary comments on Lemmy.
I'm almost tempted to get ahead of it. If you can't beat it, join them? Maybe I should see if my AI bots can scream louder than the malicious AI bots. Of course I won't have quite the same VPN resources as a nation state.
