"stolen" is such a cringe ancap term
I understand what you're saying, but could also be literal wage theft, or also more abstractly, from the view of labor theory of value
If they were talking about wage theft in the sense of people being paid less than the value they produce, that number would be much, much higher.
I don't understand what they're saying, what does the concept of theft have to do with ancap?
The 40% number indicates that they're talking about taxes.
And it would be a very ancap / libertarian take to be upset about 40% of your pay going to public causes, instead of being upset about the fact that your CEO probably pays you about ten cents for every dollar of value you generate (if even that).
Gotcha, I was focused more on the meme saying that the 40% is (partially) going to the Epstein Crew so I missed that angle
Besides, only a part of taxes goes to enriching the wealthy. Some is still used for good, useful causes.
Of course, rightwing grifters are hard at work to change that, but for now, some part of taxes is useful and good.
And very few working class people have an effective tax rate of 40%, even in high tax states
Including the money your workplace pays for you? SS and such? In Spain if we include everything it's close to 40% if you earn like 30k gross and above (without counting what the company pays for you, counting what they withhold for you)
I don't think the meme refers to taxes
If they were talking about the stolen value of labour the number would be a lot higher.
maybe they felt generous
